Job description

Research Software engineer / Researcher: The position combines software engineering with applied research. The candidate will lead the development and maintenance of the open data and benchmarking infrastructure of the WeHear project (EU funded). the candidate will actively contribute to research activities in within the group, mostly in the areas of machine learning and audio processing., We are seeking a highly motivated Researcher / Software Engineer to join our research team as part of the European research project WeHear. The project aims to develop the next generation of AI-powered hearing-assistive technology. It combines egocentric vision, spatial audio, and machine learning to help people with hearing impairments communicate more effectively in complex acoustic environments. The successful candidate will become a member of a vibrant research environment comprising approximately 20 researchers and engineers working on audio, acoustics, signal processing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. The position combines software engineering with applied research. The successful candidate will lead the development and maintenance of the project’s open data and benchmarking infrastructure, code repositories and open challenges, while actively contributing to research activities within the group. This includes collaborating with researchers on state-of-the-art machine learning methods, participating in scientific outreach, dissemination, and demonstration campaigns.

Requirements

Master Degree or equivalent, Software engineering skills. -Experience with modern web development technologies, web frameworks, frontend/backend development.

  • Experience with software version control (Git), collaborative software development, and software documentation.
  • Experience developing data processing pipelines, machine learning software, or research software.
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Ability to work effectively in an international research environment. Specific Requirements

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or closely related field.
  • Experience in software and web development.
  • A strong interest in collaborative research, open science, research code repositories and management.
  • Fluent English communication and collaborative skills
