Job description
In the role of Social Media Specialist, you will have the opportunity to:
- Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
- Create compelling, social-first content that tells the story of Samaritan’’s Purse’’s ministry and engages audiences across social media platforms, with an emphasis on short-form and vertical video content.
- Produce video content featuring ministry activities worldwide, as well as field and studio productions, coordinating creative direction, logistics, scheduling, travel, and resources with Broadcast Department leadership and production participants.
- Develop accurate and effective public messaging by researching and understanding Samaritan’’s Purse’’s mission, language, and priorities, and collaborating with ministry departments to ensure content is timely, relevant, and aligned with organizational objectives.
- Conduct interviews and coordinate professionally with ministry leaders, executive staff, the Graham family, ministry partners, volunteers, and aid recipients, demonstrating appropriate sensitivity when working with individuals experiencing pain, loss, or trauma.
- Adapt content for different social media platforms and formats, applying an understanding of audience engagement, current social media trends, and platform-specific best practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Portfolio Required: Please include a portfolio with your application that demonstrates your experience creating content for social media. We are particularly interested in examples of short-form and vertical video, such as Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, or similar content. Examples should demonstrate your ability to tell compelling stories, create platform-appropriate content, and effectively engage an audience.
- Bachelor’’s degree in film or video production or a related field and five (5) or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience creating and managing social media content for an organization, brand, ministry, nonprofit, or other established account, with demonstrated experience creating short-form/vertical video content. Knowledge of social media platforms, content formats, audience engagement, and current trends, with the ability to adapt content for different platforms and audiences.
- Knowledge of high-quality video storytelling and professional broadcast production techniques, including interviewing, directing crews, communicating creative vision, lighting, camera operation, and field audio recording.
- Proficiency in non-linear video editing and story assembly using industry-standard editing software, such as Avid Media Composer or similar systems.
