Job description

As a key member of the Digital Services team, the Infrastructure Team Leader leads the operation, support, security, monitoring and continual development of the College’s core IT infrastructure and the services that underpin teaching, learning and business operations across all campuses.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role combining people management with deep technical expertise. You’ll act as the senior technical escalation point for the Infrastructure team, lead major infrastructure and cyber security initiatives, drive continual service improvement, promote best practice in service management, and help shape the future direction of the College’s digital services., * Lead the operation, support, monitoring and continual development of the College’s infrastructure services and platforms.

  • Provide leadership, direction, performance management and professional development for the Infrastructure team.
  • Lead infrastructure projects, technology refresh programmes and service improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain and continually improve the security, resilience, availability and recoverability of College infrastructure and services.
  • Support the adoption and operation of enterprise identity, authentication, collaboration and productivity services across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Act as the senior technical escalation point for major incidents, complex technical issues and cyber security events.
  • Manage relationships with infrastructure suppliers and partners, supporting the delivery of reliable and cost-effective services.

Requirements

  • Educated to degree level (SCQF Level 9) in a relevant discipline, or equivalent recent experience in a similar role.
  • Proven experience leading and developing a technical infrastructure team.
  • Experience administering enterprise infrastructure environments across computer, virtualisation, storage, backup and networking technologies.
  • Experience administering Windows and Linux server environments together with enterprise identity, authentication, collaboration and productivity platforms.
  • Experience maintaining the security, resilience and availability of business-critical infrastructure services.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Desirable

  • Relevant professional certification such as ITIL 4, Microsoft, Cisco, Palo Alto, PRINCE2 or equivalent.
  • Experience working within and IT role within the Further or Higher Education sector.
  • Experience with enterprise virtual desktop and application delivery platforms.
  • Experience with public cloud infrastructure and services.
  • Experience of cyber assurance frameworks, security monitoring platforms or security operations practices.
  • Experience with automation and scripting technologies.
  • Project management or technical project delivery experience., * Strong team-working, team-building and people leadership skills.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads, manage competing demands and drive continual improvement.
