IT Network Manager Wanted for an Innovative Oxfordshire Academy!

Set within the historic and picturesque ironstone village of Deddington, Oxfordshire, a forward-thinking secondary academy is seeking an ambitious, technically elite IT Network Manager to take total control of our digital infrastructure on a permanent, full-time basis, starting immediately.

In this senior technical role, you will architect, secure, and future-proof our high-performance school network, empowering over a thousand students and teachers with state-of-the-art cloud and on-premise learning technologies. Job Overview

Operating autonomously with strategic backing from senior leadership, you will lead the IT department, directing network security, server architecture, cloud migration projects, disaster recovery systems, and line management of support technicians., * Network Infrastructure Leadership: Architect, configure, and maintain enterprise-grade switching, routing, VLANs, Wi-Fi architecture, and core firewalls.

• Server & Cloud Administration: Manage hybrid environments including Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure/Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and virtual machine hosts (Hyper-V/VMware).
• Cybersecurity & Compliance: Implement robust cybersecurity defenses, endpoint protection, content filtering, and ensure total GDPR compliance across all data systems.
• Project Delivery: Lead strategic digital transformation projects, including hardware rollouts, classroom AV modernization, and cloud infrastructure optimization.
• Team Leadership: Mentor, schedule, and supervise junior IT support staff, establishing streamlined ticketing workflows and high service standards.
• Budget & Vendor Management: Evaluate technology vendors, negotiate hardware procurement, and manage the annual IT operational budget.

• Professional Experience: Extensive background in network engineering, systems administration, or IT management within education or corporate enterprises.
• Technical Mastery: Deep, hands-on knowledge of enterprise networking protocols, server administration, cloud ecosystems, and cybersecurity frameworks.
• Leadership Capability: Proven ability to lead technical teams, manage high-stakes IT projects, and translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
• Problem-Solving Agility: Exceptional diagnostic instincts with a calm, methodical approach to high-priority infrastructure incidents.
• Compliance Requirement: An enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or readiness to complete a clearance process prior to starting).
