Remote Technical Lead

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Manager of Software Development Engineering to join a Commercial Plan Sponsor Domain engineering organization. This individual will lead multiple software development teams responsible for mission-critical applications supporting plan sponsor benefits administration, case installation, and plan sponsor data., Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software development engineers, including internal employees and vendor resources.

Provide oversight for a subdomain consisting of two to three Scrum teams.

Establish team and individual performance objectives that align with broader organizational goals.

Develop comprehensive software delivery strategies, including defining requirements, supporting solution design, establishing timelines, and setting project deliverables.

Track iterations, program increments, milestones, and delivery dates in support of monthly production deployments.

Provide technical direction and help development teams navigate complex engineering and delivery challenges.

Support applications responsible for plan sponsor benefits administration, case installation, and plan sponsor data.

Oversee risk assessments and proactively identify delivery, production, security, and resource-related risks.

Resolve production and software delivery issues while implementing timely solutions that minimize operational disruption.

Evaluate resource availability and capacity across internal and vendor teams.

Ensure adherence to software engineering best practices, quality standards, security requirements, and organizational processes.

Oversee the identification and remediation of vulnerabilities discovered through tools such as Qualys and Snyk.

Partner closely with product managers, business stakeholders, engineering teams, and other cross-functional partners to align priorities and address conflicts.

Support the delivery of product enhancements and new capabilities that align with business objectives and company goals.

Evaluate emerging technologies, software development methodologies, and industry trends.

Recommend and integrate innovative technologies and engineering practices when appropriate.

Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.

Significant experience leading software development or application engineering teams within a complex enterprise environment.

Proven experience managing multiple Scrum teams, ideally across two or more concurrent workstreams.

Experience managing both internal employees and third-party vendor resources.

Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, development, testing, release management, and production support.

Demonstrated ability to manage software releases, production deployments, delivery milestones, and cross-team dependencies.

Experience with Agile and Scrum delivery methodologies.

Hands-on experience using JIRA or a similar work management platform.

Strong understanding of application security, vulnerability management, and secure software development practices.

Experience addressing or overseeing vulnerabilities identified through Qualys, Snyk, or comparable security tools.

Ability to provide technical direction and communicate effectively with software engineers, architects, product managers, and business stakeholders.

Experience evaluating delivery risks, resource capacity, and operational impacts.

Strong leadership, communication, conflict-resolution, and stakeholder-management skills.

Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a focus on software quality, security, and delivery commitments.

Experience within healthcare, benefits administration, health insurance, or another highly regulated industry. Experience supporting enterprise-scale, mission-critical applications.

Experience within healthcare, benefits administration, health insurance, or another highly regulated industry.

Familiarity with plan sponsor operations, benefits administration, case installation, or related data processes.

Experience leading monthly software release and deployment cycles.

Exposure to modern software engineering practices, cloud technologies, DevSecOps, and automated delivery processes.

Experience introducing new technologies, development methodologies, or process improvements across engineering teams.
