Application Support Manager - Energy & Utilities

Calpine Corporation seeks a Manager Application Support to lead support for critical applications that enable power generation, market operations, and corporate functions. In this role, you will oversee incident, problem, and change management, ensuring reliability, performance, and compliance for mission-critical systems in a 24x7 energy environment. You will coordinate with IT, operations, and vendors on upgrades, integrations, and monitoring, using data-driven metrics to improve stability and user experience. This position requires strong technical depth, leadership, and a passion for safe, reliable, and cleaner energy operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead application support for critical utility and energy systems used across Calpine
• Monitor application performance, troubleshoot incidents, and ensure high availability
• Manage incident, problem, and change processes in partnership with IT and operations
• Coordinate with vendors and internal teams on upgrades, patches, and integrations
• Document runbooks, standards, and knowledge articles for supported applications
• Implement and track SLAs, KPIs, and service improvement plans
• Ensure compliance with security, audit, and regulatory requirements
• Analyze trends, identify root causes, and drive long-term stability improvements
• Support project delivery, testing, and deployment for new and enhanced applications
• Provide leadership, mentoring, and escalation support for the support team
