Job description

Inferno Systems is looking for a Senior Software Systems Engineer to contribute to the full lifecycle of modern application development, spanning design, architecture, and testing. You will work closely with targeters, technical analysts, and engineers to translate user requirements into actionable technical solutions while sharing O&M responsibilities with the team. You should have at least five years of hands-on software engineering experience with strong capabilities in object-oriented programming. You will be in a flexible working environment with supportive management.

You will need to be agile in responding to shifting operational requirements, timelines and priorities, while also working in a tight-knit team environment where innovative ideas are encouraged. You should be able to write strong, efficient code for full-stack development across Linux-based environments, which will be peer-reviewed, while also providing review of others’ work to ensure accountability and software quality. You will be able to interface directly with customers and users while participating in all phases of the development lifecycle to drive forward the customer’s mission.

Requirements

Must have 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with a strong background in object-oriented programming.
Demonstrated experience in full-stack development across Linux-based environments.
Proven experience managing technical infrastructure, including source-control platforms and RDBMS systems.
Familiarity with Agile workflows and development methodologies.
Experience designing, building, and implementing RESTful services.
Skills in managing and deploying applications within cloud environments, specifically using AWS services.
Ability to translate user requirements into technical designs and share ongoing O&M responsibilities with the team.

DESIRED SKILLS:

Experience developing in Python and/or Rust.
Full-stack JavaScript development experience using modern frameworks such as VueJS and/or Angular.
RDBMS database experience including MySQL, PostgreSQL, and/or Oracle.
Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure including AWS EC2, Lambda, SQS, CLI, and/or CDK.
Familiarity with web server configuration and administration using Apache.
