Requirements

Role-specific qualifications: Portfolio demonstrating UX research and interaction design for data-heavy web applications; hands-on wireframing and prototyping; working knowledge of WCAG 2.0 AA / Section 508. Angular design system experience a plus., General requirements: US-based and working on US soil; Bachelors degree plus at least 3 years of relevant experience (required by our GSA contract); federal contracting experience a plus.

Cloudnet Systems LLC, a small business federal IT contractor (GSA Multiple Award Schedule holder), is assembling the delivery team for a US Fish and Wildlife Service web platform support and improvement contract we are actively bidding. We are seeking a part-time UX Designer to join the proposed team.

Compensation: $60 per hour (1099 or W2 hourly depending on arrangement), paid for hours worked.

What you will do:

Lead the user experience redesign of a station profile module so users can distinguish authoritative data from editable fields, including map-centric views.
Establish a unified navigation structure, page templates, and reusable UI components across four modules of an operating platform.
Conduct discovery and usability sessions with field, regional, and headquarters users arranged through the Government product manager; translate findings into wireframes and clickable prototypes for Government review before development.
Design accessible interfaces meeting Section 508 and WCAG 2.0 Level AA; support accessibility testing of releases.
Work with developers during implementation to keep interaction patterns, terminology, and accessibility consistent., The engagement: approximately 220 hours in year one, then approximately 60 hours per year in subsequent option years spread as steady part-time work, not a single block. Fully remote from anywhere in the United States, during Eastern business hours (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET). No on-call or after-hours work, including for critical incidents. One annual planning trip to Fort Collins, CO or Falls Church, VA may be requested for lead personnel. A Government laptop is provided.
