Business Analyst - ERP

• Rate: £500 per day
• Location: Bury
• Working arrangement: Hybrid
• Contract length: Interim contract through to April 2027

Your new company

You will join a Public Sector body delivering a major finance transformation programme across several interconnected finance and operational systems, including Proactis, Income Management and Online Payments, and Inventory Management.

Your new role

As Business Analyst, you will provide dedicated analysis capability across multiple programme workstreams. You will translate business needs into clearly defined processes and requirements, supporting delivery through solution design, supplier evaluation, testing, user acceptance testing and implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead discovery, requirements-gathering, process-mapping and validation workshops with business, technical and supplier stakeholders.
• Document current-state and future-state processes, identifying pain points, controls, business rules, data requirements, interfaces and integration dependencies.
• Produce detailed, prioritised and testable functional and non-functional requirements.
• Develop user stories, use cases, acceptance criteria and other structured business analysis documentation.
• Create documentation from scratch where existing processes or requirements are incomplete.
• Support supplier evaluation, options appraisal and gap analysis, ensuring recommendations are supported by evidence.
• Assess data quality and support cleansing activity, particularly relating to supplier and purchase-order data.
• Maintain end-to-end traceability from the initial business need through solution design, testing and delivery.
• Develop test scenarios, scripts and UAT materials, supporting defect analysis and resolution.
• Work with operational stakeholders to support business readiness, training, implementation and handover.

Essential skills and experience

• Strong business analysis experience gained within finance systems, ERP or finance transformation programmes.
• Demonstrable experience of requirements gathering, process mapping and future-state process design.
• Experience producing structured BA artefacts, including requirements catalogues, user stories, use cases, acceptance criteria and traceability matrices.
• Experience supporting system implementation, integration, testing and UAT.
• Strong workshop facilitation and stakeholder management skills across business, technical and supplier teams.
• Experience working across multiple systems, suppliers and business workstreams.
• The ability to operate effectively in complex transformation environments where existing documentation and requirements may be incomplete.

Desirable skills and experience

• Experience with Proactis or a similar purchase-to-pay or procurement platform.
• Experience with Income Management, Online Payments or Inventory and Stock Management systems.
• Knowledge of Unit4 integrations or comparable ERP environments.
• Previous experience of local government or wider public-sector transformation.

What you’ll get in return

You will secure an interim contract running through to April 2027, with a hybrid working arrangement based around Bury. The rate, detailed working pattern and IR35 status are to be confirmed.
