Job description
- Prepare and develop architectural drawings for commercial build-outs, renovations, tenant improvements, and large-scale projects.
- Produce complete construction and permit drawing sets.
- Review existing conditions, field measurements, architectural plans, and project requirements.
- Coordinate architectural drawings with structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and other engineering disciplines.
- Ensure drawings comply with applicable building codes, accessibility requirements, life-safety requirements, and local regulations.
- Prepare drawings and documentation for municipal permitting and respond to plan-review comments.
- Work directly with building departments and other authorities having jurisdiction when necessary.
- Review drawings for constructability, accuracy, coordination, and code compliance.
- Provide architectural support throughout construction, including responding to RFIs and addressing field conditions and design changes.
- Attend site visits, project meetings, and coordination meetings as required.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining project schedules and deadlines.
- Sign and seal architectural drawings when required for permitting and construction.
Requirements
The ideal candidate is highly experienced in commercial architecture, understands the construction process, can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and is comfortable collaborating directly with ownership, project managers, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, clients, and municipal officials., * Active architectural license with the ability to independently sign and seal architectural drawings.
- Professional architectural stamp/seal in good standing.
- Strong experience with commercial construction, tenant build-outs, renovations, and large-scale projects.
- Experience working on projects of significant size and complexity; experience with projects exceeding 100,000 square feet is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, accessibility requirements, life-safety requirements, and commercial construction standards.
- Ability to produce and review complete permit and construction drawing sets.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and field conditions.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with engineers, contractors, project managers, clients, and municipal officials.
- Strong organizational and project-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple active projects and meet demanding deadlines.
Software Experience
Candidates must be proficient with industry-standard architectural and design software, including:
- AutoCAD
- Revit
- Adobe Acrobat / Bluebeam Revu
- Microsoft Office
Experience with additional BIM, rendering, modeling, or project-management software is a plus.
