App Developer

We’re looking for an experienced Android Developer to join our in-house development team, working primarily on the native Android applications that run on our own hardware. Because our platform doesn’t stop at the device, you’ll also need the skills to work with the cloud and back-end services those applications talk to - so this role suits someone equally comfortable in Kotlin and in the wider full-stack/cloud environment around it., * Developing and maintaining Android applications with Kotlin

• Ensuring high performance and responsiveness across different devices
• Integrating mobile applications with RESTful APIs and backend services
• Optimising applications for performance, usability, and accessibility
• Ensuring app security and compliance with best practices
• Collaborating with front-end and backend developers to ensure seamless mobile and web integration, * Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance APIs
• Write clean, functional, and well-documented code
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimise existing systems
• Explore AWS services to enhance system performance and scalability
• Collaborate with other developers, designers, and product managers
• Ensure code quality through testing, peer reviews, and best practices
• Continuously improve our software and development processes

Location & Working Pattern

• Full-time - minimum of 37.5 hours per week
• Based at our office in Portsmouth, Hampshire
• Hybrid working: 3 days in the office, 2 days from home
• Some office days will run 11am-7pm (with a 30-minute lunch break), to cover our later support hours
• Some weekend working will be required - we offer support to our clients until 7pm, Given the nature of our business, experience of security in development and systems would be highly beneficial. This includes:
• Writing secure code and following secure coding practices
• Identifying and mitigating common application vulnerabilities
• Experience with secure API design and authentication/authorisation
• Awareness of data protection and compliance requirements relevant to payments
• Contributing to a security-conscious culture across the development team

• Proven, demonstrable experience in native Android development using Kotlin - this is not an entry-level or graduate role
• Existing right to work in the UK (British passport or settled/pre-settled status). Please note: we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work closely with colleagues across the business

• AWS, including Lambda and API Gateway
• Confident working with GitHub for version control and collaborative development
