Systems & Application Development Assistant

Flying Eyes Optics is looking for a Full-Time Internal Tools & Business Systems Developer to help us build smarter applications, automations, and systems for our growing company.

This is not a traditional IT support role. You’ll work directly with leadership and different departments to understand business challenges and turn them into practical technology solutions.

We’re looking for someone who can take a project from idea to working application-including planning, development, testing, implementation, and ongoing improvement.

Because we’re a small company, you should be comfortable working independently, solving problems, and taking ownership of your projects.

What You’ll Do

• Meet with leadership and employees to understand business needs.
• Design and build internal applications and business tools.
• Develop automations that reduce repetitive manual work.
• Build and maintain databases, dashboards, and reporting tools.
• Connect company systems using APIs and integrations.
• Develop tools that work with ecommerce, marketing, customer service, inventory, accounting, and other business operations.
• Test, troubleshoot, and improve applications.
• Create clean, easy-to-use tools for non-technical employees.
• Use AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, and AI coding assistants as part of the development process.
• Maintain appropriate security, permissions, and data-access controls.
• Document applications, integrations, and processes.
• Train and support employees using the tools you build.
• Research new technology and AI solutions that could improve company operations.

• 3+ years of application-development or related hands-on technical experience preferred.
• Experience building web applications or internal business tools.
• Working knowledge of React or similar frameworks.
• Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
• Experience with APIs and system integrations.
• Working knowledge of Git/GitHub and modern web hosting.
• Comfortable using AI coding and development tools.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to understand a business problem and determine how technology can solve it.
• Comfortable working independently without needing detailed instructions for every project.
• Able to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical employees.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
