Job description

We are seeking an IT Database Administrator, to work within the IT Services team to deliver DBA support, maintenance, configuration and development that ensures that the department meets and exceeds agreed service levels to its customers.

You will develop innovative solutions to solve business problems and identify opportunities to drive efficiencies across the Council.

Key accountabilities:

  • Accurately record and manage ITIL service management activities using approved ITSM tools.
  • Maintain clear, accurate, and up-to-date service documentation.
  • Work with colleagues to identify, investigate, and resolve system and service issues, implementing preventative measures where appropriate.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and provide expert advice on opportunities to improve services through innovation.
  • Oversee and coordinate external technical consultants when required.
  • Build strong working relationships with colleagues and end users to support effective service delivery.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to less experienced team members, promoting best practice and knowledge sharing.
  • Manage access to highly confidential and sensitive information, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and data protection requirements.
  • Adhere to organisational policies, procedures, and governance standards.
  • Take responsibility for ICT assets, equipment, and materials, ensuring their appropriate use and management.

Requirements

Do you have experience in ITIL?, * At least 1 years’ experience working in an ICT Database environment AND a related BTEC National Level qualification or equivalent in Information Communication Technology or 2 years experience of working in an ICT Database environment using additional skills identified at Level 1 for the skill set(s) relating to the post.

  • Knowledge of the ITIL framework and the ability to work within it
  • Able to successfully deliver end user and IT infrastructure support
  • Able to use IT service management tools to accurately capture data relating to ITIL processes
  • Able to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with all colleagues and end users
  • Able to collaborate with colleagues to identify and investigate problems in systems and services throughout the organisation, assisting in the
  • implementation of remedies and preventative measures.
  • Able to deliver excellent customer service.
