Job description

Here at Northumbria Police, we think our region is amazing! It takes a great deal of people from different backgrounds, with diverse skills and experience to serve our force area effectively, think you have what it takes to help us make a difference? This could be the perfect time for you to join us in our Corporate Hub as a Public Insight Analyst.

As a Public Insight Analyst, you will play a key role in delivering a high-quality analytical and technical service that helps the organisation better understand the experiences, perceptions, and needs of our communities and service users. You will gather, analyse and interpret a wide range of qualitative and quantitative data to provide meaningful insight that supports evidence-based decision making and drives continuous improvement across policing services.

Working closely with colleagues and stakeholders, you will translate complex data into clear, accessible insight that informs strategy, operational delivery and service design. Your work will directly contribute to improving outcomes for the public, ensuring that the voice of communities is reflected in how services are developed and delivered, and supporting the Force in building trust, confidence and legitimacy within the communities it serves.

What you’ll do

  • Oversee and coordinate daily activity of public insight staff, managing workloads to meet deadlines and targets.
  • Implement standards and protocols for the Contact Unit through quality checks on completed interview records and data input, identifying patterns and trends to ensure reliability and accuracy of data collection.
  • Support the design, delivery, and review of telephone and online surveys aligned to stakeholder needs.
  • Provide advice and guidance to senior managers and staff in relation to research techniques that ensure appropriate data collection and analysis to meet the aims and objectives of research.
  • Deliver research using qualitative and quantitative methods to inform improvements and meet organisational needs.
  • Coordinate complex statistical analysis of large datasets, using significance testing and correlation to identify trends, drivers, and insights., We are proud members of the Business Disability Forum, working together to improve the lives of disabled employees. As a Disability Confident Leader, we are committed to offering an interview to disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria for the role. In cases of very high application volumes, we may prioritise those who most closely meet the criteria, ing the same fair approach for all candidates.

If you tell us that you have a disability, we can make adjustments to support you through the recruitment process (for example we can arrange extra time for tests or provide a sign language interpreter) You can get in touch with us via careers@northumbria.police.uk for any support regarding the application process. Please provide us with plenty of notice so we can ensure your visit goes smoothly.

A job offer will be dependent upon vetting clearance, medical information, and references.
