Job description
We are seeking a technically skilled IT Installation Engineer with experience in data cabling to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and support of IT hardware, networking equipment, and structured cabling systems. This is a hands-on role requiring practical fieldwork at client sites, with a focus on delivering high-quality installations that meet industry standards., * Install and terminate Cat6, Cat6a, and fiber optic cabling for voice and data networks.
- Structured cabling installations, including trunking, conduit work, cable dressing, patch panel termination, and labeling
- Installation of IT hardware ranging from servers, switches, routers, wireless access points, PCs, printers, and peripherals pre-configured with back office support.
- Conduct site surveys and produce detailed installation reports and layout plans for quotations
- Troubleshoot and repair network or cabling issues at client sites
- Maintain stock of installation materials and ensure tools and equipment are well maintained.
- 1st line IT Support on the Help desk when busy
Requirements
Education & Certifications:
- Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Relevant certifications in data cabling or networking (e.g., BICSI, CNCI, CompTIA Network) are highly desirable.
- A general background and interest in working in this environment for another company
Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in IT installation, structured cabling, or a similar field role.
- Proven experience in terminating and testing Cat6/6a and fiber optic cables.
- Ideally, working in this environment already and can hit the ground running
Skills:
- Strong technical knowledge of IT systems, networking principles, and cable infrastructure.
- Proficient with hand and power tools used in cabling installation.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, building plans, and floor layouts.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients and team members.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage tasks onsite.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with related SME IT support on the practical side.
- Familiarity with cable management best practices.
- First line IT support experience
Other Requirements:
- Full, clean driving license and willingness to travel to different sites.
- Ability to work at height, in confined spaces.
