Job description

This is a hands-on position ideal for someone who has a basic understanding of computers and computer hardware. Extensive professional IT experience is not required. Training on our specific testing and processing procedures will be provided., * Test laptops, desktops, and other computer equipment for functionality and overall condition.

  • Perform basic hardware and software troubleshooting to identify issues with computers and components.
  • Verify device specifications including processor, RAM, storage, operating system, and other hardware information.
  • Inspect and test components.
  • Check BIOS settings and identify BIOS passwords, management locks, or other device restrictions.
  • Perform basic hardware upgrades or replacements when needed.
  • Accurately record serial numbers, specifications, testing results, and equipment status in company systems.
  • Use company-provided software and testing tools to process and verify equipment.
  • Identify equipment that passes testing and separate units requiring additional repair or review.
  • Follow established testing, quality control, and equipment processing procedures.
  • Maintain an organized and efficient workstation and communicate any recurring technical issues to management.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of computer hardware and Windows operating systems.
  • Familiarity with common computer components such as processors, RAM, SSDs/NVMe drives, batteries, and motherboards.
  • Basic computer troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to identify computer specifications and recognize common hardware or software issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately record serial numbers and testing results.
  • Comfortable learning and using computer testing and inventory software.
  • Previous experience working with laptops or desktops is preferred but not required.
  • Technical coursework, personal computer-building/repair experience, or other hands-on IT experience is a plus.
  • Training will be provided on company-specific testing procedures and software.
