Job description

Creative Web is an award-winning Surrey-based web design agency, looking for a Junior Developer to join our in-house development team. You will work closely with the team on a variety of projects from small updates through to complete websites., Working for a rapidly growing digital agency, you will be a member of the development team working on:

  • Assisting in the development of client websites.
  • Working with our design team to integrate elements and content into WordPress websites.
  • Collaborating with project managers to meet deadlines.
  • Front and back-end web development, with a frontend emphasis.
  • The maintenance, upkeep, and ongoing development of clients’ websites.
  • Addressing support tickets via our ticketing system.
  • Contributing ideas for how AI tools and automation can be used to improve team workflows, development processes, and overall output quality.

Requirements

Do you have experience in jQuery?, The ideal candidate would have experience building and maintaining websites with WordPress, as well as experience using an array of different coding languages including HTML, CSS and JavaScript:

  • A basic understanding and knowledge of WordPress.
  • A level of understanding of HTML, CSS & JavaScript.
  • A basic level of understanding of PHP & MySQL.
  • Ability to identify and fix bugs.
  • 1 year or more experience as a Web Developer or similar role.
  • A keen eye for detail and accuracy/consistency in layout and information.
  • A good communicator and be willing to deal with clients directly.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-moving environment.
  • Ability to think through and solve problems.
  • A proactive approach to using AI tools to improve personal capacity, accelerate development tasks, and think outside the box, whether that’s streamlining repetitive workflows, improving code quality, or developing smarter internal processes.

Beneficial but not essential

  • A slightly stronger leaning towards frontend development is advantageous, confidence with HTML, CSS and JavaScript beyond the basics will stand you in good stead.
  • A basic understanding of jQuery/Ajax.
  • Some use of WooCommerce.
  • A basic understanding of Vue/React.
  • A basic understanding of and/or experience using APIs.
  • A basic understanding of Adobe Suite (Photoshop/XD/Illustrator).
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or similar) and an enthusiasm for applying them practically., * Ability to self-manage and organise.
  • Able to work to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work as part of the team and attend client/internal meetings where applicable.
  • Dedicated to finishing the job to a high standard.
  • Curious and forward-thinking, someone who embraces new tools and isn’t afraid to suggest a better way of doing things.
