Lead Embedded Linux Engineer

• Own embedded Linux and edge system architecture across deployed and next-generation products
• Lead design decisions across performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability
• Develop and maintain embedded Linux systems used in fleet-scale edge devices
• Manage boot processes, system services, and runtime behaviour (systemd)
• Build tooling, automation, and diagnostics using Python and shell scripting
• Support device provisioning, remote monitoring, and field troubleshooting at scale
• Design secure networking configurations including VPNs, routing, and firewalling
• Collaborate with hardware teams on integration of compute platforms, cameras, and peripherals
• Interpret schematics and PCB designs for system-level debugging
• Act as escalation point for complex production and field issues
• Provide technical leadership across embedded and cross-functional engineering teams

• Strong hands-on experience with embedded Linux systems, including device bring-up
• Proficiency in Python and shell scripting
• Strong networking knowledge (VPNs, routing, firewalling)
• Experience working in headless Linux environments (SSH, UART, serial consoles)
• Strong understanding of systemd and Linux service management
• Experience with Git-based development workflows
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and PCB diagrams
• Proven ability to work autonomously and provide technical direction, * Ownership of a flagship embedded and edge AI platform used in real-world transport environments

This Lead Embedded Linux Engineer role sits at the core of a rapidly scaling engineering function, and as a Lead Embedded Linux Engineer, you will be responsible for shaping the embedded architecture powering real-world AI-enabled video and sensor platforms.
