Job description

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to support a complex, enterprise-level database environment. This role will be responsible for the planning, administration, performance, maintenance, and ongoing support of critical database platforms, including DB2 for z/OS, SQL Server, Oracle, and GIS., This resource will primarily be tasked with performing Database (DB2, SQL Server, Oracle, GIS) planning and operational activities including, but not limited to, the following:

  1. Daily operational and database administration activities
  2. Plan, design, implement, support for database structures
  3. Conduct database performance monitoring and tuning
  4. Develop and maintain database administration procedures and documentation
  5. Perform SQL Code reviews
  6. Assist with training/mentoring other technical staff
  7. This resource may also be required to perform other database or infrastructure activities as requested

Requirements

The ideal candidate will bring 15+ years of combined database administration experience and strong expertise working within mainframe and enterprise database environments. This individual will play an important role in ensuring database availability, performance, security, reliability, and integration across the organization.

The position requires a highly technical professional who can independently manage database administration activities while also collaborating with application, infrastructure, and technical teams. Experience supporting an integrated database infrastructure, financial management applications, or an integrated application environment is a plus.

Required Experience

The candidate must have skills and 15 years of combined experience in database administration for the following database platforms:

  1. DB2 for z/OS
  2. SQL Server 2008R2, 2012
  3. Oracle 10g and above
  4. Experience with an integrated database infrastructure is a plus.
  5. Knowledge of financial management applications is a plus.
  6. Knowledge of an integrated application environment is a plus., The submitted candidate must be able to apply common knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
  7. Advanced knowledge of DB2 for z/OS application integration, performance management and database administration
  8. Advanced knowledge of upgrading DB2 for z/OS
  9. Advanced knowledge of DB2 for z/OS catalog maintenance
  10. Advanced knowledge of DB2 for z/OS subsystem point-in-time recovery
  11. Advanced knowledge of JCL
  12. In-depth knowledge of the z/OS integrated platform
  13. In-depth knowledge of CA GEN model management and application object support
  14. In-depth knowledge of ISPF
  15. In-depth knowledge of the ASG Scheduler
  16. In-depth knowledge of COBOL
  17. In-depth knowledge of the use and interpretation of DB2 for z/OS database monitoring tools
  18. In-depth knowledge of the use and interpretation of z/OS software monitoring tools
  19. In-depth knowledge of technical infrastructure implementation planning and coordinating
  20. Solid working knowledge of z/OS started task creation and management
  21. Solid working knowledge of IBI z/OS service support
  22. Solid working knowledge of AFOPER commands
  23. Solid working knowledge of RACF
  24. Solid working knowledge of CICS
  25. Solid working knowledge of IOF
  26. Solid working knowledge of the technical requirements of Disaster Recovery
  27. Solid working knowledge of Oracle application integration, performance management and database administration
  28. Solid working knowledge of MSSQL application integration, performance management and database administration
  29. Solid working knowledge of verification testing techniques for infrastructure change management
  30. Working knowledge of z/OS EXITs
  31. Working knowledge of BJS
  32. Working knowledge of Windows Servers
  33. Working knowledge of SSMS, SSRS, SSIS
  34. Working knowledge of Azure

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.
