Job description
The Network Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, stability, and security of the enterprise network while supporting daily operations, troubleshooting incidents, and maintaining critical infrastructure. This position is primarily remote but may require up to 25% onsite support at the customer location on N Street in Washington, DC., * Plan, design, implement, test, and deploy enterprise network systems.
- Determine network requirements and implement appropriate infrastructure solutions.
- Install, configure, and maintain network information systems.
- Monitor the health, stability, security, performance, availability, and capacity of network and data center environments.
- Respond promptly to system alerts and incidents, assess impact, troubleshoot issues, and restore services.
- Escalate critical issues to appropriate technical teams and maintain incident documentation.
- Perform routine maintenance including server patching, firmware upgrades, backups, and system maintenance.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with infrastructure teams to minimize operational impact.
- Prepare reports and performance metrics on network health and utilization.
- Support network backup and recovery operations.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, diagrams, specifications, and infrastructure standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- CompTIA Network+ and/or CCNP certification.
- 5-10 years of network administration experience.
- Experience monitoring and maintaining enterprise network and data center environments.
- Experience responding to system alerts, incidents, and network performance issues.
- Strong knowledge of LAN, WAN, wireless networking, VPN, routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, WAN optimizers, endpoint security, encryption, proxy servers, digital certificates, and data center management.
- Experience planning, designing, implementing, and maintaining complex network infrastructures.
- Knowledge of backup and recovery practices.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and technical documentation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Tier II Public Trust., * Experience supporting Federal civilian customers.
- Experience with voice networks in addition to data networks.
- Experience developing infrastructure standards, blueprints, and technical roadmaps.
- Experience supporting enterprise data center environments., * Bachelor’s (Required), * Networking: 5 years (Required)
- Cisco routers: 1 year (Preferred)
- LAN/WAN: 1 year (Preferred)
