Requirements

As a React Developer the individual will play a pivotal role in our development team and thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment upholding industry best standards to help build stable solutions. You will be a self-driven individual who is organised and possesses a high level of communication and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. The individual will have proven experience designing and developing production front-end applications within a team, including complex customer journeys such as checkout, with familiarity working closely with backend developers, QA and other stakeholders to receive feedback.

As a React developer, you will be capable of suggesting the best approach to finding solutions and can contribute to a project from concept to completion including how it is built, tested, secured and released. Our development teams move quickly, so an understanding of agile workflows and developing in an iterative process is desirable.

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years Commercial experience with React JS Framework.
  • Familiar with modern JavaScript syntax and patterns
  • Experience developing within the JavaScript eco-system using tools such as NPM
  • Demonstrable understanding of user experience (UX) & best practice
  • Experience with GIT version control and GitHub
  • Consuming APIs and integrating with third party software
  • Testing, for example Vitest, Jest and Playwright
  • TypeScript experience
  • Experience managing asynchronous state in React
  • Demonstrate knowledge of security best practices
  • Ability to discuss technical solutions with team members and other stakeholders and provide innovative new ideas for solutions
  • Experience with Agile process

Desirable skills and knowledge:

  • Experience with Next.js for server-rendered, customer facing sites
  • Familiarity with Copilot, Cursor or other AI tools to increase efficiency
  • SEO for content-led pages, including metadata and indexable content
  • Maintain a high awareness of industry issues and trends, particularly in regard to accessibility, usability, and emerging technologies, and keep team members informed as appropriate
  • Integration of AI into a customer facing product

Nice to have:

  • Amazon Web Services
  • Docker and containerised front end builds
  • Error monitoring such as Sentry
  • Building or maintaining a shared UI component library
  • Experience with ElasticSearch

Skiddle was born in 2001 as a what’s on guide and began selling tickets in 2006 and is now one of the UK’s most loved ticketing services selling tickets for tens of thousands of events throughout the UK, from independent club nights through to 60,000 capacity festivals.

Skiddle currently sells tickets for the likes of The Warehouse Project, Creamfields, Digbeth Dining Club and Live Nation, plus hundreds of independent venues and promoters across the country. Likewise, we host the largest festival guide in Europe.

Role Summary:

With over 10 million page impressions per month and sizable year on year growth, you will be working on the busiest event ticketing website in the UK. As an integral member of the team, you will need the technical background and expertise to suggest approaches to designing, developing and maintaining the front end of our applications. You will be contributing at the forefront of our applications that serve our customers and make a real impact on the events industry.
