(Junior) Structurer

The Origination & Structuring team is responsible for developing and executing customized energy contracts with wholesale counterparties and large corporate clients, with a primary focus on the Dutch power, gas, and green certificate markets. The department brings together experienced Originators, commercially driven professionals with extensive market network and highly skilled Structurers with strong quantitative expertise and commercial insight.

Working in close partnership, Originators lead client engagement, negotiations, and transaction execution, while Structurers structure, value, and optimize non-standard deals using advanced quantitative models. Together, they ensure that each transaction meets client requirements while delivering optimal risk-return value for the portfolio. In this collaboration, Structurers act as equal and independent partners, contributing to the evaluation, selection, * Makes a significant direct contribution to the Profit & Loss of Sales and Trade within the established (risk) guidelines by structuring, valuing, and optimizing complex deals.

• Analyzes market developments using mathematical and econometric models and quantifies their impact on the EP NL Portfolio.
• Actively seeks market opportunities and knows how to translate them into success factors for the EP NL Portfolio through optimization strategies and contract structuring.
• Initiates or creates improvement opportunities and commercial quantitative market development methods resulting in innovative products, product-market combinations, and risk management solutions for asset-backed trading / origination.
• Acts as the linking pin between Analysis on the one hand and commercial departments such as Sales and Trade on the other, and knows how to translate and apply quantitative methods and techniques in a pragmatic and understandable manner for commercial purposes.
• Acts as the linking pin between Trade and Risk Management and knows how to convincingly obtain approval for applied methods and techniques and the pricing policy.
• Acts as the linking pin between the business and Finance/IT regarding the processing of complex products in reports and systems, and providing transparent insight into the results and risks of complex products and derivatives from Sales and Trade.

Do you have experience in VBA?, Do you have a Master’s degree?, You have completed a science degree (MSc, PhD), for example econometrics, mathematics, or a similar quantitative discipline, and possess work experience in a similar position. You are commercially driven and results-oriented. You have an affinity with financial quantitative methods and techniques. Knowledge of energy markets and trading is a significant plus., * Knowledge of financial quantitative methods, econometrics, and techniques, and financial portfolio management.

• Expertise in the field of complex energy contracts (structured products), embedded optionality, and financial products (derivatives).
• Expertise in the field of econometric / mathematical models.
• Knowledge of relevant (international) markets, market developments, and market data.
• Knowledge of energy trading.
• Knowledge of physical energy assets (power plants, gas storage, etc.); Power Purchase Agreements, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) optimization.
• Knowledge of software applications used (Eviews, Matlab, Excel, GEN).
• Advanced programming knowledge (VBA, Matlab, C++).
• Highly aware of the environment regarding macroeconomic developments and able to translate these into consequences for the asset strategy.

The minimum salary starts at € 4,747 gross a month. Salary scale depends on qualifications and work experience. Depending on relevant knowledge and experience, an entry-level scale may also apply.
