Job description

The Manager, Marketplace Payment Operations leads day-to-day payment operations across assigned areas, ensuring reliable execution, effective seller resolution, and strong operational performance. This role manages complex payment issues and escalations, drives process and control improvements, and partners with Product, Engineering, Risk, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Seller Support, and payment partners. The Manager uses data and operational insights to identify opportunities, influence product and automation solutions, and support scalable payment capabilities. The role also leads cross-functional initiatives, supports new market and capability readiness, and develops associates while fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

About the team:

The Payments Operations team leads the strategy and execution of Walmart Marketplace Payments, ensuring secure, scalable, and seamless payment experiences. Collaborating with Product, Engineering, Seller Risk, Legal, Finance, and Seller Support, the team manages financial, compliance, and reputational risks. It drives operational excellence through automation, process governance, analytics, and proactive seller support across the payments lifecycle. Emphasizing strong program management, stakeholder communications, and business operations, the team delivers impactful technology solutions aligned with organizational goals, fostering a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement and operational success.

What you’ll do:

  • Own Marketplace Payment Operations across assigned areas, ensuring accurate execution, timely seller resolution, and operational performance.
  • Manage complex payment issues, incidents, and escalations across Product, Engineering, Risk, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Seller Support, and payment partners.
  • Drive operational excellence through KPIs, SLAs, controls, SOPs, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify product, tooling, and automation opportunities that improve seller experience and reduce manual operations.
  • Use data and insights to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives from planning through delivery.
  • Support operational readiness for new payment capabilities and markets.
  • Coach associates and foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Requirements

  • Experience in payments, fintech, financial operations, eCommerce/Marketplace, banking, or related operations.
  • Strong operational ownership with demonstrated ability to resolve complex, ambiguous, and high-impact issues.
  • Program management experience leading cross-functional initiatives, milestones, dependencies, and risks.
  • Ability to translate operational challenges into scalable product, process, tooling, or automation solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills using KPIs, trends, and root-cause analysis.
  • Understanding of operational controls, SOPs, SLAs, quality, and governance.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills across technical and business teams.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience coaching and developing associates.

Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, industrial engineering, engineering management, business, information systems, project/program management, information technology, finance, management, or related area and 3 years’ experience in project management, program management, program operations, or related area.

Bentonville, Arkansas US-30008: The annual salary range for this position is $80,000.00 - $155,000.00

Sunnyvale, California US-11807: The annual salary range for this position is $104,000.00 - $202,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
