Job description

MCG Architecture is seeking a hands-on IT Desktop Support Specialist - Tier 1 / Tier 2 to support its Irvine, California office.

This position is ideal for an IT professional who enjoys working directly with users, troubleshooting technology issues, setting up computers and accounts, maintaining software, resolving network connectivity issues, and keeping a professional office technology environment operating efficiently.

Experience supporting BIM, Revit, Autodesk, or other architecture/design software is preferred but NOT required. MCG is primarily looking for a strong IT support professional who has the technical aptitude and interest to learn the technology used within an architecture and design environment.

This is a full-time, in-office position where you will become a trusted technology resource for architects, designers, project managers, and other professionals.

What You’ll Do

The IT Desktop Support Specialist will provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support across desktops, laptops, applications, peripherals, user accounts, network connectivity, and other office technology.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 desktop and end-user technical support.
  • Set up and configure new employee computers, workstations, user accounts, email, software, and related technology.
  • Manage IT-related employee onboarding and offboarding.
  • Troubleshoot Windows desktop and laptop hardware and software issues.
  • Diagnose LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, internet, and general network connectivity problems.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop applications.
  • Deploy software patches, security updates, operating-system updates, and application upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot printers, monitors, docking stations, conference-room technology, and other peripherals.
  • Support Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and related tools.
  • Reset passwords and troubleshoot login, access, and user-permission issues.
  • Assist with user accounts through Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, or similar environments.
  • Maintain computers throughout their lifecycle, including deployment, maintenance, replacement, and decommissioning.
  • Maintain hardware, software, licensing, and IT asset records.
  • Document technical problems and solutions.
  • Escalate more complex infrastructure, network, cybersecurity, or application issues when appropriate.
  • Assist with IT projects, upgrades, migrations, and technology deployments.
  • Provide responsive and professional technical support to employees throughout the office.

BIM / Revit Support - Preferred, Not Required

Experience working with BIM, Revit, Autodesk products, or architecture/design technology is preferred but is not a requirement for consideration.

Candidates coming from traditional IT support environments are encouraged to apply.

For candidates who do have AEC technology experience, responsibilities may also include:

  • Assisting users with basic Revit and BIM-related technical issues.
  • Supporting Autodesk application installation, configuration, updates, and licensing.
  • Troubleshooting application performance, plug-ins, connectivity, and user-access issues.
  • Assisting with Autodesk Construction Cloud or BIM 360 environments.
  • Supporting Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Cloud, AutoCAD, and other architecture/design applications.
  • Working with BIM and design professionals to identify whether an issue is related to hardware, software, network connectivity, permissions, or the application itself.
  • Helping maintain reliable workstations capable of supporting resource-intensive design applications.

MCG is willing to consider strong IT support candidates who have not previously worked in an architecture firm or supported BIM/Revit., MCG Architecture provides the opportunity to work in a professional design environment where technology is central to the firm’s operations and project delivery.

Unlike a traditional remote help desk position, this role allows you to work directly with the professionals you support, understand their technology needs, and see the immediate impact of your work.

The architecture industry also exposes IT professionals to specialized technology, powerful workstations, sophisticated design applications, large project files, cloud collaboration platforms, and BIM environments.

You do not need to already be an expert in architecture technology. For someone with a strong IT foundation, this position provides an opportunity to expand your technical skill set and develop experience supporting BIM, Revit, Autodesk, and other AEC technology.

This can be an excellent opportunity for an IT professional who wants to build toward future positions in systems administration, network administration, cybersecurity, IT management, BIM technology, or AEC technology management., Desktop Support, Help Desk, Service Desk, Windows 11, Windows 10, Microsoft 365, Office 365, Active Directory, Entra ID, Azure AD, User Setup, User Provisioning, Workstation Setup, Laptop Setup, Hardware Support, Software Installation, Software Deployment, Patch Management, Windows Updates, Network Connectivity, Network Troubleshooting, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, Endpoint Support, Intune, IT Asset Management, Troubleshooting
