Job description
As the UX/UI Designer at Reach, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Riverside’s assessment platform. This is a unique opportunity to lead the design of a ground-up, end-to-end user experien
ce for a new assessment platform that serves students, educators, and administrators. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams-including Engineering, Product, Psychometrics, and Content-to define and implement the UX framework, interaction patterns, and visual identity from scratch. Your work will directly influence how users interact with assessments like CogAT and Iowa Assessments, transforming complex data into intuitive, actionable insights. You will be responsible for establishing the design system, conducting user research, and ensuring the platform is accessible, responsive, and aligned with WCAG standards. Post-launch, you will continue to own and evolve the user experience, supporting new features and expanding the platform’s capabilities., * Own the end-to-end UX strategy for Reach, including defining user personas, journey maps, and information architecture from scratch
- Lead user research initiatives, including interviews, usability testing, workflow analysis, and stakeholder engagement to validate design assumptions
- Translate research insights into user flows, task flows, and interaction models that cater to diverse user roles
- Build wireframes and interactive prototypes to validate concepts with users and stakeholders prior to high-fidelity design
- Define and implement the information architecture and navigation model for a multi-user assessment platform
- Design clear, actionable assessment data displays such as score reports, dashboards, and configuration screens for educators’ quick decision-making
- Create onboarding processes and in-product guidance experiences for educators and administrators
- Establish and monitor UX success metrics, such as task success rates and usability scores, to inform product development and enhancements
- Develop and maintain a scalable design system and component library to ensure consistency across the platform
- Own high-fidelity visual design for all screens, ensuring accessibility, responsiveness, and WCAG compliance
- Collaborate with engineering teams to provide detailed design specifications, conduct QA, and ensure implementation fidelity
- Support ongoing iteration and expansion of the UX and design system post-launch, including new assessments and features
Requirements
- 4-7 years of experience in product, UX, or UI design, with demonstrated expertise in both user experience and visual/interaction design
- Proven experience as a founding or lead designer on a 0-to-1 or greenfield build, defining UX frameworks, interaction patterns, and design systems from scratch
- Strong knowledge of UX research methodologies including interviews, usability testing, and surveys, with the ability to translate findings into personas, journey maps, and detailed specifications
- Experience developing and maintaining a comprehensive design system or component library from inception
- Proficiency in Figma or comparable design tools for creating flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes at various fidelity levels
- Experience designing for multi-role, multi-stakeholder platforms with complex, data-heavy interfaces such as dashboards and score reports
- Working knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and responsive design principles
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments with limited existing structure
