Job description

  • Lead and develop IT Operations staff, setting priorities, establishing accountability, and supporting staff development and training.
  • Oversee IT service delivery, including the Applications Help Desk, End-User Support, IT Security Administration, and IT Systems Administration functions.
  • Oversee endpoint and systems operations, including device management, software deployment, Windows configurations, patching, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Manage the IT asset lifecycle, including procurement, deployment, inventory, licensing, vendor renewals, and retirement.
  • Strengthen IT service management, including incident, request, problem, and change management.
  • Support employee technology services, including Microsoft 365, collaboration tools, conference room and A/V technology, and other workplace technology.
  • Manage vendors, contracts, licensing, budgets, service levels, and operational resources to support effective and cost-conscious IT services.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation that improve service delivery and the employee technology experience.
  • Coordinate with the Kansas Information Technology Office (KITO), Kansas Information Security Office (KISO), Office of Information Technology Services (OITS), vendors, and other technology partners to support agency and statewide technology priorities.
  • Provide operational planning, reporting and recommendations to IT leadership regarding staffing, technology needs, service levels, risks, and resource requirements., This is an opportunity to make a direct impact on the technology services that Department of Administration employees rely on every day. You will lead an experienced team, help improve IT services and processes, and play an important role in supporting the technology that keeps the agency operating.

You’ll have the opportunity to develop people, solve operational challenges, manage resources, improve services, and work across the agency and statewide IT community.

Post Offer Requirement:

Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate: A valid Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate is a condition of employment for all employees of the State of Kansas. Applicants (including non-residents) who receive a formal job offer for a State job, are required to obtain a valid Tax Clearance within ten (10) days of the job offer. Tax Clearance can be obtained through the Kansas Department of Revenue who reviews individual accounts for compliance with Kansas Tax Law.

Requirements

  • Experience leading, supervising, or managing IT teams or technology service functions.
  • Strong knowledge of IT operations, end-user support, infrastructure, endpoint management, and service delivery.
  • Experience managing IT assets, vendors, contracts, licensing, budgets, or technology resources.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity, vulnerability management, patching, and IT compliance.
  • Strong problem-solving, prioritization, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a strong customer focus.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with IT staff, agency management, vendors, and statewide technology partners., * Experience leading enterprise IT operations, end-user support, or a high-volume service desk.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, endpoint management, IT asset management, or IT service management.
  • Experience managing vendors, contracts, service levels, licensing, budgets, or operational resources.
  • Experience leading technology improvements, process automation, system deployments, or other significant technology initiatives.
  • IT-related certifications such as ITIL, CompTIA, Microsoft, HDI, or other relevant certifications.
  • Experience working with state government, public-sector, or enterprise IT environments., * Associate degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, business administration, or a related field.
  • Five years of experience in information technology, IT operations, systems administration, or a related area.
  • Experience leading, supervising, or managing IT staff or technology service functions.
  • Experience planning, prioritizing, and coordinating IT operations, services, or resources.
  • Experience working with IT vendors, contracts, budgets, licensing, or technology resources.

Benefits & conditions

  • Salary Range: $90,000 - $100,000

Note: Compensation will be based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and skills, while considering internal equity and applicable compensation guidelines. Applicants should consider the posted salary range when determining their interest in the opportunity.
