Job description

We are hiring an Embedded Software Engineer to develop and support embedded application software for a new ground combat vehicle program in a 100% onsite environment. This role supports the full software development life cycle (SDLC), including software requirements, architecture and design, C/C++ development, testing, hardware/software integration, debugging, and software releases across VxWorks, Linux, RTOS, virtualization, and board support environments., The engineer will work across vehicle software domains such as board support packages (BSPs), cybersecurity, displays, networking, and software downloading while collaborating with Systems Engineering and Software Quality teams. Relevant technologies and architectures include Git/GitLab/Bitbucket, C, C++, C#, Java, Python, Qt, DDS, Kafka, CAN, TCP/IP, UDP/IP, GCIA, MOSA, SOSA, FACE, TSN, NGVA, and UKGVA., * Develop embedded application software, technical documentation, and code across ground combat vehicle domains, including board support, cybersecurity, displays, and software downloading.

  • Perform software requirements analysis and develop requirements documentation.
  • Create preliminary and detailed software designs and architecture documentation using department-approved software design tools and standards.
  • Develop C, C++, C#, Java, Python, Qt, and related software code as applicable to implement approved designs.
  • Ensure software development conforms to established department standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Develop test procedures and perform unit and functional testing of executable software.
  • Perform hardware/software integration across embedded vehicle systems.
  • Debug and resolve software issues identified throughout development, integration, and testing phases.
  • Support software releases involving multiple developers and integrated software components.
  • Provide development task status and technical updates to software project leads.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Software Quality, and other engineering and business teams.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and software development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

C/C++ Ground Combat Vehicle Systems, Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 1-4 years of experience in software engineering, embedded software development, or a related technical role.
  • Experience with programming languages and development technologies such as C, C++, C#, Java, Python, and Qt.
  • Experience with version control and software configuration management tools such as Git, GitLab, and/or Bitbucket.
  • Experience working with mixed operating system and embedded environments such as VxWorks, Linux, RTOS, virtualization, board support packages (BSPs), and GVOS.
  • Experience with serial and network communication protocols such as RS-232/422, CAN, TCP/IP, and UDP/IP.
  • Experience with Data Distribution Service (DDS), Kafka, or other publish/subscribe middleware technologies.
  • Experience with ground combat vehicle network architecture designs.
  • Experience with GCIA, Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA), Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA), and/or Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE).
  • Experience using Agile software development processes and tools.
  • Ability to work 100% onsite. *, * Previous software engineering experience in the defense industry.

  • Familiarity with Type 1 and Type 2 hypervisors.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with Internet of Things (IoT) concepts.
  • Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler.
  • Experience with Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) architectures.
  • Experience with NATO Generic Vehicle Architecture (NGVA) data models.
  • Experience with UK Generic Vehicle Architecture (UKGVA) data models.
  • Data Distribution Service (DDS) experience.
  • Experience with User Datagram Protocol (UDP) and Transmission Control Protocol (TCP).
  • Experience with multicast networking.
  • Experience applying continuous improvement processes and methodologies.
