Job description

  • Design, configure, and test a new software development environment used to create documentation, source code, test artifacts, and other software work products.
  • Develop embedded software documentation and code across vehicle domains including board support, displays, power management, lethality, software deployment, embedded training, and diagnostics.
  • Perform software requirements analysis and develop supporting technical documentation.
  • Develop preliminary and detailed software designs using department-approved software design tools and standards.
  • Develop software designs that influence overall ground combat vehicle architecture.
  • Develop code to implement approved software designs in accordance with established development standards and procedures.
  • Develop test procedures and perform unit and functional testing of executable software.
  • Perform hardware/software integration across embedded vehicle systems.
  • Debug and resolve software issues identified throughout development, integration, and testing.
  • Integrate software releases across multiple Computer Software Configuration Items (CSCIs) into overall vehicle software releases.
  • Provide development task status and technical updates to software project leads.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Project Management, Software Quality, and other departments and business units.
  • Lead Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including daily Scrum meetings, Program Increment (PI) Planning events, retrospectives, and demonstrations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

We are hiring an Embedded Software Engineer with required Fire Control experience to develop and support embedded application software for a new ground combat vehicle program. This 100% onsite role supports the full software development life cycle (SDLC), including software development environment design, requirements analysis, software architecture and detailed design, C/C++ development, testing, hardware/software integration, debugging, and integration of multiple Computer Software Configuration Items (CSCIs) into vehicle-level software releases.

This role supports embedded vehicle domains including Fire Control, board support, displays, power management, lethality, software deployment, embedded training, and diagnostics. Key technologies and architectures include C, C++, C#, Java, Python, Git, Bitbucket, VxWorks, Linux, RTOS, BSPs, DDS, Kafka, CAN, TCP/IP, UDP/IP, TSN, NGVA, UKGVA, GCIA, MOSA, SOSA, and FACE., U.S. Citizenship required by law or government contract

  • Ability to Obtain a Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 4+ years of experience in embedded software engineering, software development, or a related role. * Fire Control experience is required.

  • Experience with Git, Bitbucket, Java, C#, C++, C, and Python development tools and technologies.
  • Experience working with mixed operating system and embedded environments, including VxWorks, Linux, RTOS, virtualization, board support packages (BSPs), and GVOS.
  • Experience with serial and network protocols including RS-232/422, CAN, TCP/IP, and UDP/IP.
  • Experience with Data Distribution Service (DDS), Kafka, or other publish/subscribe middleware.
  • Experience with Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) architectures.
  • Experience with NATO Generic Vehicle Architecture (NGVA) data models.
  • Experience with UK Generic Vehicle Architecture (UKGVA) data models.
  • Experience with ground combat vehicle network architecture designs.
  • Experience with GCIA, Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA), Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA), and Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE).
  • Experience using Agile software development processes and tools.
  • Ability to work 100% onsite., * Previous experience working in the defense industry.
  • Familiarity with Type 1 and Type 2 hypervisors.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with Internet of Things (IoT) concepts.
  • Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler.
  • Data Distribution Service (DDS) experience.
  • Experience with User Datagram Protocol (UDP), Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), and multicast networking.
  • Experience applying continuous improvement processes and methodologies.
