Job description

We are hiring an Embedded Software Engineer to support software development, integration, and testing for ground combat vehicle systems and defense applications. This role supports embedded software development using C, C++, C#, Java, Python, Git, and Bitbucket across VxWorks, Linux, RTOS, virtualization, BSP, and GVOS environments, with responsibilities spanning software requirements, architecture, design, coding, hardware/software integration, testing, debugging, and vehicle software releases.

The position also supports vehicle network architectures and technologies including CAN, RS-232/422, TCP/IP, UDP/IP, DDS, Kafka, Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN), NGVA, UKGVA, GCIA, MOSA, SOSA, and FACE. The engineer will collaborate with Systems Engineering, Project Management, and Software Quality teams while supporting Agile development and Scrum ceremonies., * Design, configure, and test software development environments used to produce documentation, source code, test artifacts, and other software work products.

  • Develop embedded software documentation and code across vehicle domains including board support, displays, power management, lethality, software deployment, embedded training, and diagnostics.
  • Perform software requirements analysis and translate requirements into preliminary and detailed software designs.
  • Develop software designs using department-approved design tools, standards, and procedures.
  • Create software designs that influence overall ground vehicle architecture and system integration.
  • Develop code in accordance with established software development standards and procedures.
  • Develop test procedures and perform unit and functional testing of executable software.
  • Perform hardware/software integration across embedded vehicle systems.
  • Troubleshoot and debug software issues identified throughout development, integration, and multiple phases of testing.
  • Integrate software releases across multiple Computer Software Configuration Items (CSCIs) into complete vehicle software releases.
  • Provide development status, technical progress, and issue updates to software project leads.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Project Management, Software Quality, and other engineering and business teams.
  • Lead Agile Scrum activities including daily Scrum meetings, Program Increment (PI) Planning, retrospectives, and demonstrations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

C/C++ Ground Combat Vehicle Systems, U.S. Citizenship required by law or government contract
  • Ability to Obtain a Secret Clearance * Education: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline. * Experience: 1+ years of experience in software engineering, embedded software development, or a related role.

  • Experience with software development tools and programming languages including Git, Bitbucket, Java, C#, C++, C, and Python.
  • Experience working in mixed operating system and embedded environments including VxWorks, Linux, RTOS, virtualization, Board Support Packages (BSPs), and GVOS.
  • Experience with serial and network communications protocols including RS-232/422, CAN, TCP/IP, and UDP/IP.
  • Experience with DDS, Kafka, or other publish/subscribe (Pub/Sub) middleware.
  • Experience with Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) architectures.
  • Experience with NATO Ground Vehicle Architecture (NGVA) data models.
  • Experience with UK Ground Vehicle Architecture (UKGVA) data models.
  • Experience with ground combat vehicle network architecture design.
  • Experience with defense and open architecture standards or initiatives including GCIA, MOSA, SOSA, and FACE.
  • Experience using Agile software development processes and tools., * Previous software engineering experience within the defense industry.
  • Familiarity with Type 1 and Type 2 hypervisors.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with Internet of Things (IoT) concepts.
  • Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler.
  • Additional experience with Data Distribution Service (DDS).
  • Experience implementing UDP and TCP communications.
  • Experience with multicast networking.
  • Experience applying continuous improvement processes and methodologies.
