This role blends technical engineering expertise with project execution responsibilities, supporting design-build delivery, system integration, and long-term operational performance., · Lead or support the design and development of building mechanical systems (i.e., HVAC systems, Ventilation/Indoor quality, Hydronics, Plumbing-related mechanical coordination, building automation and control, etc.) for commercial and educational buildings.

· Perform or oversee load calculations, equipment selection, ductwork/piping layout, energy modeling, and system integration using industry-standard tools (e.g., Trace, HAP, Carrier, Revit, AutoCAD).

· Coordinate multidisciplinary project efforts across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and structural disciplines to ensure cohesive building systems design and delivery.

· Prepare and review design documents, specifications, drawings, calculations, and project deliverables for HVAC, hydronic, ventilation, and related mechanical systems.

· Support design-build project execution from concept through construction administration, including schedule coordination, budget awareness, and technical issue resolution.

· Evaluate system performance for energy efficiency, reliability, and seamless integration with renewable or alternative energy sources.

· Conduct site visits, field investigations, commissioning support, and coordination with operations/maintenance teams.

· Ensure designs and installations comply with applicable codes, standards (ASHRAE, IMC, NFPA, etc.), and client requirements.

· Review contractor submittals, respond to RFIs, and provide technical support during construction and startup.

· Collaborate with project managers, owners, and facility operators to support long-term building systems performance and maintenance considerations.

· Mentor junior staff and contribute to continuous improvement of design standards, project processes, and best practices.

Requirements

· 5-10 years of progressive experience in building systems engineering, or project engineering roles.

· Proven experience with HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial, institutional, and/or industrial/energy generation facilities.

· Strong technical foundation in HVAC principles, hydronic systems, ventilation, energy recovery, and building systems integration.

· Proficiency in HVAC load calculation software, AutoCAD, and Revit (BIM experience preferred).

· Familiarity with energy codes, sustainability standards, and high-efficiency system design.

· Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects, manage technical deliverables, and work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits and project meetings.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with design-build project delivery and energy infrastructure (CHP, combined cycle, biogas/landfill gas facilities, central utility plants).

· Knowledge of renewable energy integration, thermal energy systems, and performance optimization.

· Experience supporting operations, maintenance, or commissioning of building and energy systems.

· Professional Engineer (PE) license.

· Project management exposure or PMP certification a plus.

· LEED accreditation or similar sustainability credentials.
