Lead Java Developer - API & Cloud Solutions

Columbus, OH (Contract to Hire), Join a forward-thinking technology team as a Lead Java Developer, driving the end-to-end design and deployment of robust Java APIs on leading cloud platforms. In this highly visible role, you’ll provide hands-on technical leadership, shape best practices, and foster a collaborative environment that emphasizes innovation and professional growth., Lead the design, development, and deployment of secure, scalable Java APIs using Spring Boot on cloud platforms (GCP preferred)

Define, implement, and enforce coding standards, code reviews, and development best practices
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
Mentor and guide junior developers, promoting knowledge sharing and technical excellence
Oversee CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and cloud deployment strategies
Ensure optimal application performance, security, and scalability in cloud environments
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, providing hands-on support
Monitor system health, optimize resources, and manage cloud-related costs
Stay on the leading edge of emerging technologies, recommending architectural and process improvements

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

10+ years’ experience in Java backend/API development
Deep expertise with RESTful API and SOA development using Java and Spring technologies
Experience with API (REST & SOAP) and cloud platforms (GCP preferred, AWS/Azure considered)
Strong track record in technical leadership and mentoring developers
Proficient in CI/CD, automated testing, and DevOps practices
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Preferred Skills

Cloud certifications (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
Experience with microservices and cloud-native architecture
Background in Banking and Payments domains
Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies, Java API (Rest & SOAP) Cloud (preference is GCP but open)
