Job description

Leidos has an opening for a Network & Deskside Support Administrator to support a Department of Justice program in the District of Columbia under them. The program provides a broad range of IT services to the customer, including network operations, endpoint support, and end-user technical assistance.

This position is designed as a flexible, hands-on technical role supporting two small teams. The successful candidate will divide their responsibilities between junior network administration and on-site deskside/end-user support, adjusting priorities based on operational needs.

This is a primarily on-site position, with an expected schedule of approximately 80% on-site and 20% telework, based on customer requirements and operational needs.

The ideal candidate is a versatile IT professional who is comfortable troubleshooting a user’s workstation one moment and supporting LAN, WiFi, network monitoring, or secure access technologies the next. The position will work closely with network engineers, system administrators, service desk personnel, security personnel, and customer stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain reliable IT services.

The role provides an opportunity to develop deeper network administration skills while remaining closely engaged with users and the day-to-day operation of the customer’s IT environment.

Primary Responsibilities

Network Administration and Operations

  • Support the administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of the customer’s local area network (LAN) and WiFi environment.
  • Assist with configuration, maintenance, and upgrades of network infrastructure, including switches, gateways, wireless access points, and related network components.
  • Support a network environment based primarily on Ubiquiti UniFi technologies.
  • Monitor network infrastructure and assist with identifying and resolving performance, availability, and connectivity issues.
  • Assist with configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of UniFi network devices, wireless access points, switches, gateways, and management platforms.
  • Review network alerts, logs, dashboards, and reports and escalate or resolve identified issues as appropriate.
  • Assist with network monitoring, performance troubleshooting, capacity analysis, and proactive identification of potential service issues.
  • Support administration and troubleshooting of Zscaler technologies, including Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA), Zscaler Private Access (ZPA), Zscaler Digital Experience (ZDX), and Zscaler Client Connector.
  • Assist senior technical staff with configuration and maintenance of Zscaler Zero Trust policies and associated infrastructure.
  • Support maintenance and monitoring of UPS battery backup systems associated with network infrastructure.
  • Assist with network security upgrades and activities supporting the customer’s Zero Trust security posture.
  • Develop and maintain network topology diagrams, configuration documentation, operating procedures, and other technical documentation.
  • Participate in evaluations of network monitoring and management technologies as required.
  • Work with senior engineers and technical leads when troubleshooting complex network issues or implementing significant infrastructure changes.

Deskside and End-User Support

  • Provide on-site deskside technical support for customer personnel.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, repair, and replace laptops, desktops, monitors, docking stations, peripherals, and related end-user equipment.
  • Troubleshoot Windows operating system, application, authentication, connectivity, printing, and peripheral issues.
  • Assist users with wired, wireless, VPN, Zscaler, and other network connectivity issues.
  • Support Microsoft Intune and Entra ID-related endpoint and access management activities.
  • Configure and deploy laptops and other end-user devices in accordance with customer standards.
  • Assist with user onboarding, equipment deployment, office moves, hardware refreshes, and equipment replacement.
  • Diagnose issues and determine whether resolution belongs with deskside support, networking, systems administration, security, or another technical team.
  • Coordinate escalations and work with other program teams through resolution.
  • Maintain accurate ticket documentation and provide users with timely status updates.
  • Review, resolve, and close incidents, service requests, and change requests within established service-level agreements.
  • Follow up with users and support teams to confirm successful resolution of technical issues.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support both the network and deskside support teams as workload and operational priorities require.
  • Maintain a regular on-site presence to provide hands-on infrastructure and end-user support.
  • Collaborate with customer personnel, internal Leidos teams, subcontractors, vendors, and other technical organizations.
  • Attend customer and internal technical meetings as required.
  • Provide weekly reporting regarding operational issues, support activities, projects, and significant technical events.
  • Assist with development of various dashboards and presentations supporting operational reporting.
  • Follow established change management, incident management, configuration management, and cybersecurity processes.
  • Identify recurring technical issues and recommend opportunities to improve reliability, supportability, and the end-user experience.
  • Maintain awareness of the customer’s security requirements and follow applicable security policies and procedures.
  • Support planned after-hours maintenance or emergency activities when required.
  • Perform other IT infrastructure and end-user support duties consistent with the needs of a small, flexible technical team., Linux Equities Operations Innovation Market Data System Status Ancient History Technical Issues Operating Systems Help Desk Support Agency Management Systems Integration Security Engineering Resource Utilization Architectural Design System Administration Service-Oriented Architecture Troubleshooting (Problem Solving) Top Secret-Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI Clearance) +0, Operations Market Data IPSec Tunnels Cloud Services Network Control Dynamic Routing Ancient History Computer Science Network Switches Incident Response Network Monitoring Network Administration Border Gateway Protocol Web Application Security IAT Level II Certification Network Performance Management Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) Troubleshooting (Problem Solving) Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) DoD Information Assurance (IA) Certification Counter Intelligence Polygraph (CI Clearance) Top Secret-Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI Clearance) +0 Login | JoinContact
