Job description

As a Senior Solution Architect on our Major Accounts and Specialty team, you’ll be right at the heart of Chubb’s digital underwriting transformation, helping reshape how risks are quoted, bound, and serviced across the portfolio. You’ll lead the move away from manual, document-heavy workflows and toward smarter straight-through processing (STP) that makes things easier for both underwriters and brokers. Working closely with global teams, you’ll help design and build these platforms, while staying aligned with engineers at the code and detailed design level to make sure the solution is delivered exactly as intended.

In this role, you will:

  • Design flexible, modular, and reusable solution architectures that align with technical standards and patterns
  • Implement solution architecture governance with a strong focus on design patterns, technology standards, and architectural fitness
  • Define the digital transformation roadmap for underwriting platforms, including legacy modernization, API enablement, cloud-native SaaS adoption, and ecosystem integration with brokers and MGAs
  • Partner with developers to review code, enforce best practices across API-based, microservices, cloud environments, debug critical issues, and conduct performance testing
  • Identify technology risks and define mitigation strategies to protect program delivery and platform stability while enabling Agile and DevOps practices
  • Design and implement event-driven straight-through processing architectures that automate submission intake, risk triage, pricing, and policy issuance
  • Architect and enable AI-assisted underwriting platforms by integrating ML-based risk scoring, document intelligence, decision-support tools, predictive models, AI guardrails, and high-quality data pipelines

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline
  • At least 10 years as a solution architect delivering end-to-end technology solutions, with deep expertise in underwriting platform architecture from blueprint and roadmap through solution design and production implementation, ideally in commercial lines or specialty P&C insurance
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with insurance policy administration systems, including COTS products such as Duck Creek, Insurity, Guidewire, and Majesco
  • Experience in application modularization and modernization, including microservice architecture and composable platform design for producers and consumers
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and integration technologies, including Azure, AWS, Kafka, MQ, Service Bus, and API mediation, plus coding proficiency in C#, Java, JavaScript, Angular, and/or Node.js
  • Experience architecting AI/ML-powered enterprise workflows and STP pipelines, including LLM-based document intelligence, predictive risk scoring, decision automation, and configurable referral exception handling for underwriting operations
  • Ability to abstract architectural complexity and articulate design decisions clearly to senior audiences at the CIO and CTO levels
  • Understanding of insurance data standards and canonical data models, including ACORD and internal ontologies, to enable interoperability across underwriting, policy admin, and analytics systems
  • Strong understanding of commercial lines and specialty P&C insurance business domains, including underwriting workflows, coverages, and operational processes

Benefits & conditions

The pay range for the role is $150,000 to $170,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. Chubb offers a comprehensive benefits package, more details on which can be found on our careers website.
