Job description
An independent secondary school in Haringey is seeking a technically capable and service-focused IT Support Technician to assist with the smooth running of its IT systems. The school relies on reliable technology to support teaching, learning and administration and is looking for someone who can provide effective technical assistance to staff and pupils.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative IT team responsible for maintaining the school’s devices, systems and classroom technology.
The Role
The IT Support Technician will provide first-line technical support across the school, responding to IT queries and helping resolve hardware, software and connectivity issues.
Responsibilities will include troubleshooting desktop computers, laptops, printers, interactive displays and other classroom equipment. The postholder will assist with user accounts, password resets, software installations and the configuration of devices for staff and pupils.
The successful candidate will also help maintain IT equipment inventories, prepare devices for new users and ensure that faulty equipment is reported, repaired or replaced as appropriate. They will support routine system checks and assist with the rollout of updates and new technology.
Working closely with teaching and administrative staff, the IT Support Technician will help minimise disruption when technical problems arise. They will communicate clearly with users, prioritise requests according to urgency and keep accurate records of support tickets and completed work.
The role may also involve assisting with digital learning platforms, supporting school events that require technical equipment and helping maintain appropriate IT security and data protection practices.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have experience in IT support, technical troubleshooting or a similar service-focused role. A good understanding of Windows devices, Microsoft Office, networking fundamentals and common hardware and software issues would be advantageous.
Applicants should be patient, methodical and able to explain technical solutions clearly to users with varying levels of IT knowledge. Strong organisation, problem-solving skills and a commitment to confidentiality are essential.
Previous experience supporting IT within a school or educational setting would be beneficial.
