PostgreSQL Developer/Cloud Engineer - Database Platforms

We are seeking an experienced PostgreSQL Developer/Cloud Engineer with years of professional experience to support database development, migration, optimization, and cloud-based platform engineering initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong PostgreSQL expertise, hands-on experience with database migrations, and solid cloud engineering experience across modern infrastructure and deployment environments., * Design, develop, and maintain PostgreSQL databases, schemas, tables, views, indexes, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.

• Plan and execute database migrations from legacy relational database platforms to PostgreSQL.
• Assess source and target database environments and identify migration risks, dependencies, and compatibility issues.
• Convert and optimize database objects, queries, and data models during migration efforts.
• Perform data transformation, validation, reconciliation, and post-migration testing.
• Tune PostgreSQL performance through indexing, query optimization, execution plan analysis, and database configuration.
• Support backup, restore, replication, and high availability strategies.
• Troubleshoot database performance issues, migration defects, and production incidents.
• Collaborate with application developers, DevOps, infrastructure, and security teams to support platform modernization.
• Build and support cloud-based database and application workloads.
• Implement and support infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation.
• Work with cloud networking, monitoring, access control, and security best practices.
• Support production systems and participate in incident resolution and root cause analysis.
• Document technical designs, migration plans, operating procedures, and support processes., * Participate in OP monthly team meetings and participate in team-building efforts.
• Contribute to OP technical discussions, peer reviews, etc.
• Contribute content and collaborate via the OP-Wiki/Knowledge Base.
• Provide status reports to OP Account Management as requested.

• 10+ years of professional experience in PostgreSQL development, database engineering, or related roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL development and administration.
• Proven experience leading or supporting database migration projects.
• Proficiency in SQL, database design, normalization, and relational data modeling.
• Experience with stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, and indexes.
• Strong understanding of query optimization, performance tuning, and execution plans.
• Experience with ETL, data transformation, and data validation.
• Knowledge of backup, restore, replication, and high availability concepts.
• Familiarity with transactions, locking, isolation levels, and concurrency control.
• Cloud engineering experience supporting workloads in AWS, AZURE.
• Experience with infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and deployment automation.
• Knowledge of cloud security, networking, monitoring, and scaling practices.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in database and cloud environments.
• Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience migrating from Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or other RDBMS platforms to PostgreSQL
• Experience with PostgreSQL extensions and advanced features.
• Experience with large-scale, business-critical, or enterprise migration projects.
