Job description
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Commercial Fisheries Entry Commission is recruiting for a Systems Programmer located in Juneau! What you will be doing: As a member of the IT team, build and maintain internal and external web applications and APIs to support the department’s transition from legacy systems to a centralized datastore. Support core IT operations by assisting with server administration, database maintenance, and responding to daily user requests. Collaborate closely with both software development and IT teams to troubleshoot issues, build internal tools, and ensure smooth day-to-day technology workflows.

This position directly supports the mission critical operational needs of the Agency, contributing towards day-to-day IT needs in all sections of the Commission.
The benefits of joining our team: The employee will have the option of hybrid telework after completing necessary requirements in the position and will be empowered by Leadership to grow within the Agency. Safety is paramount and Commission employees at all levels promote a culture where everyone is valued, treated equitably, and treated respectfully.
Who we are looking for: We are looking for someone with the following competencies:
- Experience in a modern web development framework and API use for building internal and external applications.
- Awareness of legacy system architectures, specifically data migration strategies away from older technologies.
