Electronic Health Record (EHR) Specialist

The EHR Specialist is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing the organization’s Electronic Medical Records (EHR) system. This role supports IT, clinical, and administrative staff by serving as the liaison between the practice and EHR vendor, providers user training and technical support, maintaining data integrity, and assisting with EHR implementation and workflow improvements.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES: Maintain and manage electronic medical records within the EHR/EHR system Ensure patient data is entered accurately, securely, and in compliance with HIPAA regulations Monitor data quality and perform regular audits to identify and correct discrepancies Provide end-user support and troubleshoot EHR-related issues Train new employees and existing staff on EHR system functionality and best practices Collaborate with providers, clinical staff, and IT teams to optimize workflows and system utilization 08/25/2026 1 Assist with EHR upgrades, implementations, testing, and system enhancements Create and maintain reports, dashboards, and documentation related to EHR usage and performance Develop and update policies and procedures related to electronic records management Assist in compliance with regulatory compliance initiatives and participate in accreditation audits Monitor user access permissions and ensure compliance with security protocols Serve as a liaison between USA and software vendors regarding system issues and enhancements

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use Ability to travel between clinic locations when required Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally QUALIFICATIONS: Associate’s degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, Information Technology, or related field Minimum of 2 years of experience working with EHR systems in a healthcare setting Knowledge of medical terminology, healthcare workflows, and HIPAA regulations Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications Experience with EHR systems such as Epic, Athena, Meditech or similar platforms Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills 08/25/2026 2 Strong verbal and written communication abilities

PREFERED QUALIFACATIONS: RHIT, RHIA, CHPS, or other healthcare information management certifications Experience with EHR implementation, optimization, or project management Knowledge of healthcare data reporting and quality improvement initiatives
