Job description
An innovative life sciences organization is seeking a System Engineer to support the development and maintenance of advanced laboratory instrumentation and automated sequencing technologies. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical problem solving, working in a collaborative engineering environment, and contributing to cutting-edge diagnostic solutions.
The selected candidate will play a key role in troubleshooting complex instrument systems, improving system reliability, supporting laboratory operations, and assisting engineering teams with technical investigations and product improvements.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for laboratory instruments and automated sample preparation systems
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and system performance issues in a fast-paced lab environment
- Conduct root cause analysis and assist with corrective and preventive actions
- Collaborate with engineering and laboratory teams to identify and resolve recurring technical issues
- Execute system testing, validation activities, and performance verification procedures
- Support ongoing instrument development and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain detailed technical documentation, experiment records, and investigation summaries
- Analyze system data and communicate findings effectively to cross-functional teams
- Assist in reducing instrument downtime by identifying reliability improvements
Requirements
Do you have experience in Teamwork?, * Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Bioengineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline
- Minimum 1-2 years of relevant industry or laboratory engineering experience
- Experience supporting laboratory instruments, automated systems, diagnostic platforms, or similar technologies
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving abilities
- Familiarity with sequencing technologies or laboratory workflows is preferred
- Experience using data analysis or statistical tools such as JMP, R, or equivalent software is a plus
- Basic knowledge of Python or other scripting/programming languages is beneficial
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Comfortable working in an onsite laboratory environment
Preferred Experience
- Exposure to microfluidics, liquid handling systems, electromechanical devices, or instrumentation support
- Experience performing failure investigations and technical reporting
