Job description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Hardware Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of electrical systems and enclosures for our products. The role focuses on electrical design, cabinet and enclosure engineering, wiring and harness design, and handson prototyping to deliver reliable, manufacturable hardware that meets safety and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is technically strong, detail oriented, and comfortable collaborating across mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing teams to take concepts through production., * Lead schematic capture, component selection, and detailed electrical design for new and existing products.
- Design and specify cabinets, enclosures, and mounting systems to meet mechanical, thermal, and EMC requirements.
- Develop wiring diagrams, harness layouts, and connector specifications; produce clear wiring documentation for manufacturing and service.
- Build and test prototypes, troubleshoot hardware issues, and iterate on designs to improve performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing teams to ensure integrated system design and smooth handoff to production.
- Prepare and maintain bill of materials (BOM), assembly drawings, and manufacturing test procedures.
- Drive compliance and certification efforts (e.g., UL, CE, RoHS) by creating required documentation and supporting testing.
- Work with vendors and contract manufacturers to qualify components, negotiate costs, and resolve supply chain issues.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of design standards, processes, and best practices.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Underwriters Laboratories (UL) standards?, Do you have a Master’s degree?, * Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 7+ years of professional experience in hardware/electrical engineering, including handson design and troubleshooting.
- Strong electrical design skills: schematic capture, component selection, power distribution, and signal integrity awareness.
- Proven experience designing cabinets/enclosures and creating wiring diagrams and harness assemblies.
- Familiarity with CAD tools for electrical and mechanical design (e.g., Altium, OrCAD, SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and electrical simulation tools.
- Experience with manufacturing processes, DFM/DFMEA considerations, and producing clear documentation for production and service.
- Working knowledge of regulatory and safety standards (UL, CE, RoHS) and experience supporting certification testing.
