Job description

The Nevada DMV is committed to ensuring equal access to services and information for all customers, including individuals with disabilities. To comply with ADA, Section 508, and WCAG 2.1 AA standards, the DMV must establish an ongoing accessibility program for all digital documents and forms, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDFs, and other materials.

Because accessibility requirements evolve and new documents are continuously created, this effort requires a sustainable program with clear governance, processes, and trained staff.

We recommend engaging an to assess existing documents, develop accessible templates, and establish repeatable workflows. Long-term oversight would transition to a designated full-time employee (FTE).

This program will improve compliance, customer service, operational consistency, and the DMV’s commitment to accessible service delivery., * Assess DMV’s current forms, documents, and templates to identify accessibility gaps.

  • Remediate priority Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, and other materials to meet ADA/WCAG requirements.
  • Develop standardized ADA-compliant templates for enterprise-wide use.
  • Create governance guidelines, quality control processes, and long-term accessibility workflows.
  • Build an inventory and tracking system for forms and documents, including remediation status.
  • Provide staff training and hands-on knowledge transfer to support long-term sustainability.
  • Prepare the program for transition to a designated FTE who will manage future operations.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Word embeddings?, * Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Public Administration, Communications, Business Administration, Education, Accessibility, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted for education.

  • Five (5) or more years of experience supporting digital accessibility, ADA compliance, Section 508 compliance, or related accessibility initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating and remediating digital documents and forms for accessibility compliance, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, and other electronic formats.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA.
  • Experience developing accessibility standards, governance frameworks, policies, procedures, and quality assurance processes.
  • Experience creating and maintaining inventories, tracking systems, or reporting mechanisms for accessibility remediation efforts.
  • Experience delivering training, workshops, and knowledge transfer to business and technical staff.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate accessibility requirements to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience managing multiple projects, priorities, and stakeholders in a large organizational environment., * Professional accessibility certification such as CPACC (Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies), WAS (Web Accessibility Specialist), or CPWA (Certified Professional in Web Accessibility).
  • Experience implementing accessibility programs within government agencies or large public-sector organizations.
  • Experience establishing enterprise-wide accessibility governance and compliance programs.
  • Experience using accessibility testing and remediation tools for documents and digital content.
  • Experience supporting long-term operational ownership and transition of accessibility programs to internal staff.
  • Knowledge of document lifecycle management, records management, or content governance practices.
  • Experience supporting accessibility initiatives involving customer-facing services and public information.
  • Familiarity with accessibility requirements for state and local government organizations.

  • Comprehensive understanding of ADA, Section 508, and WCAG accessibility requirements.
  • Ability to identify accessibility barriers and recommend practical remediation strategies.
  • Ability to develop sustainable processes and governance structures for long-term compliance.
  • Ability to train and mentor staff on accessibility best practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with business units, program managers, content creators, and technical teams.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
