Job description

The incumbent in this position is responsible for the highly technical work that is involved in analyzing, evaluating, and enhancing of the existing Geographic Information System (GIS). The individual assists in designing solutions and technical procedures to process GIS data from all areas of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, while adhering to the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s GIS standards. The individual utilizes Geographic Information System techniques to analyze various data types and improve understanding of specific geographic variables. The incumbent in this position is responsible for extracting data from GIS software, applying various analysis methods to arrive at results, and developing data structures to display information in user-friendly Webapps. The individual recommends appropriate reactionary strategies in response to GIS analysis. This position requires the ability to manage projects and tasks with minimal to moderate supervision. The incumbent in this position serves as an analyst/specialist on projects involving complex GIS studies that require field data collection, creation, editing, and manipulation. This position reports to the Planning & Development Director or designee and collaborates with the Information Technology Department GIS Division.

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver’s License license?, Do you have experience in Statistics?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Geomatics, Civil Engineering or related field with Geographic Information System (GIS) coursework is required. Certification as Geographic Information System Professional (GISP) is preferred. A minimum of five (5) years of GIS experience with at least three(3) years of experience working with ArcGIS Databases, AutoCAD and knowledge and understanding of GPS hardware and software packages. Knowledge and understanding of GIS/GPS database and principles, database, cartographic, geographic, statistical and mathematical theory sufficient to perform geographic analyses is required. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s Licenseis required. Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate proficiency utilizing computer software packages. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
