Job description

The Network Administrator will provide advanced, hands-on network and infrastructure support as part of a consulting team supporting a government agency environment. This role includes the configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of network equipment, identity and access components, endpoint management tools, and hybrid cloud services to ensure secure, reliable connectivity across central and regional offices.

The position requires a self-sufficient professional capable of resolving complex network and infrastructure issues in a regulated public-sector setting.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, administer, and support network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, access points, and wireless networks.
  • Provide advanced support for domain services, including account creation, password resets, and security group management.
  • Configure, manage, and support shared folders and access permissions on-premises and within Microsoft Office 365.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network and infrastructure issues affecting servers, workstations, and virtual networks.
  • Monitor and support operating system updates, patches, and application updates across networked environments.
  • Install, configure, and monitor endpoint and update management platforms, including ManageEngine and Microsoft System Center.
  • Provide technical support for multiple agency networks and interconnected environments.
  • Evaluate and recommend network and infrastructure hardware and software for data center and operational use.
  • Support application configuration and computer installation, delivery, and deployment at central and regional offices.
  • Perform remote and on-site diagnosis, configuration, movement, and installation of computers, network equipment, and servers, as required.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure secure, stable, and compliant network operations.

Requirements

Do you have experience in VPN?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, * Minimum of 7 years of experience in network administration or a related infrastructure role.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Network Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • One or more of the following certifications (or equivalent):
  • CCNP
  • CCNA

Technical Skills & Technologies

  • Hands-on experience with enterprise networking technologies including:
  • Cisco and Meraki networking solutions
  • Network firewalls and security appliances (e.g., Cisco Firepower, FortiGate)
  • Experience with backup and recovery solutions such as VERITAS and Veeam Backup.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure networking services and hybrid environments.
  • Knowledge of routing, switching, VPNs, network segmentation, and monitoring tools.
  • Experience supporting networks in regulated or high-availability environments (preferred).

  • May involve on-site, hybrid, or remote support depending on project needs.
  • Position requires reliability, initiative, and a strong commitment to service quality and uptime.

Benefits & conditions

$25 - $45 an hour - Full-time, Contract
