Job description
Picture your week leading the technical backbone of utility-scale energy storage projects-sometimes from Juno Beach, FL, sometimes from your home office, and on the road about 25% of the time to be hands-on at key milestones. You’ll combine deep engineering acumen with practical project leadership to plan, design, and implement complex Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) solutions., * Engineer core components for large-scale storage systems and steer designs through the full lifecycle.
- Spot and correct discrepancies in drawings; champion design quality and efficiency improvements.
- Diagnose issues in engineering studies and define durable, future-proof fixes.
- Author precise technical scopes of work that drive clear, fair, and executable contracts.
- Partner with project managers from kickoff to commissioning to keep scope, schedule, and cost aligned.
- Guide cross-functional teams on complex engineering tasks and decisions.
- Track progress and technical risks, communicating issues early and often.
- Collaborate with suppliers to integrate major equipment seamlessly into the system architecture.
- Coordinate across disciplines to optimize systems and controls, unlocking project opportunities.
- Interpret specifications for major equipment purchases and recommend solutions to close gaps.
- Navigate permitting requirements, address legal considerations, and suggest site design refinements.
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Travel approximately 25% for project-specific needs.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Underwriters Laboratories (UL) standards?, * 15+ years in Solar/PV engineering and/or construction.
- Expertise in one or more: power electronics, battery storage system design, substation design, generation tie design.
- Strong familiarity with energy storage technologies: battery chemistries, power conversion systems, and DC/DC converters.
- Working knowledge of safety standards for lithium-ion storage: UL1973, UL9540, UL9540A, NFPA 855, NFPA 70E, NEC, and relevant IFC/IBC sections.
- Familiar with IEC 61215, 61646, 61730.
- Comfort handling specialized, high-impact technical assignments.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which depends on experience, qualifications, and skills, is estimated at $65.00/hr. to $70.00/hr.
