Job description
Voltage is seeking an entry-level Associate Design Engineer to support the design and development of Electrical Balance of System (EBOS) solutions for utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) projects. This role offers early-career engineers the opportunity to build technical skills in solar system design, code compliance, and manufacturing collaboration while working alongside experienced engineers in a global environment.
This position requires bilingual fluency in Mandarin and English, as the role partners closely with engineering and cross-functional teams in both the U.S. and China to support design coordination, technical communication, and project execution.
What You’ll Do
- Support EBOS design development for commercial and utility-scale solar projects.
- Assist with engineering drawings, layouts, and bills of material using AutoCAD and internal tools.
- Support preparation of quotes for cables, spare parts, and replacement components.
- Review construction drawings, single-line diagrams, and project specifications with guidance from senior engineers.
- Perform basic engineering calculations including conductor sizing, voltage drop, and system layouts.
- Ensure designs align with NEC requirements and internal engineering standards.
- Maintain engineering documentation and support version control of drawings and design records.
- Provide technical support to Project Engineering, Sales, Quality, and Production teams.
- Assist with technical documentation for proposals and customer deliverables.
- Participate in design reviews and support design-for-manufacturability initiatives.
- Support continuous improvement activities within the Engineering team.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Version control?, * Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related technical field.
- 0-2 years of engineering, internship, co-op, or related technical experience.
- Exposure to AutoCAD or similar drafting tools.
- Basic understanding of electrical fundamentals and engineering calculations.
- Willingness to learn NEC code and utility-scale solar design principles.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Bilingual fluency in Mandarin and English required.
- Experience or academic exposure to PV systems, renewable energy, or manufacturing environments preferred.
