Job description

  • Act as the primary technical authority across data ingestion, lakehouse architecture, and semantic model architecture for the assessment.

  • Review ingestion pipeline architecture for design quality, standardization, scalability, and correctness; validate raw-layer landing patterns, change data capture implementation, and source-to-lake completeness; assess the equivalency and completeness of an SSIS-to-Fabric pipeline migration.

  • Lead the lift-and-shift assessment: evaluate the delivered Bronze/Silver/Gold medallion design against the client’’s documented target architecture; review Delta table optimization, partition strategy, schema evolution handling, OneLake configuration, and data quality gate implementation.

  • Review stored-procedure-to-PySpark 3.4.1 structured streaming micro-batch transformation with barrier mode execution enabled transformation equivalency and logic quality: code modularity, parameterization, edge case handling, and transformation-layer performance. Produce a map of where business logic resides across the platform and where it is duplicated.

  • Review semantic model design patterns: star schema, DirectLake vs. import mode, relationship integrity, calculated columns vs. measures, and the fitness of curated tables for semantic modeling.

  • validate AI-generated scan outputs for accuracy before they enter client deliverables

Skills & Tools

  • Expert-level Microsoft Fabric: Lakehouse, Delta Lake, Spark, Pipelines, OneLake.

  • Deep SQL Server: stored procedure analysis, database design patterns, query optimization.

  • Hands-on SSIS: package structure, transformation logic, and equivalency mapping to Fabric/PySpark 3.4.1 structured streaming micro-batch transformation with barrier mode execution enabled pipelines.

  • Hands-on Power BI Premium and Databricks.

Requirements

  • VHDL synthesis Experience: 15+ years Microsoft data platform; 4+ years hands-on lakehouse engineering (Microsoft Fabric, or Synapse/Databricks lakehouse with Fabric migration exposure); minimum 2 years hands-on Microsoft Fabric experience.
