JOB DESCRIPTION: This is an Application Software Developer, who will provide analytical & technical expertise for administrative systems,including Research Admin & Financials systems. Systems Analysis & Design: 35% - Perform system analysis & design for complex applications of broad scope & impact.Identify project scope & definition, design approach for problem resolution, & develop time schedules & cost estimates. Possess thorough understanding of architectural, application & integration issues, as well as database design concepts & data interfaces to/from other systems. Develop detailed functional & system design specifications. Employ industry standard tools & techniques in analysis & design including business, object, data & process modeling. Application Development: 50% - Plan & carry out the coding, testing, implementation, & documentation phases of an an in-house or package software development project Play key technical role in the implementaion of the Oracle Financials application suite. Study the business requirements, package functionality,& the integration issues with other legacy & non-legacy systems at client. Develop, enhance, & implement client/server & Web based solutions to meet client needs, using a 4GL development environment such as Oracle Forms or PowerBuilder, in a Unix based relational database environment (Oracle or Sybase). Develop test plans, test scripts, & performance testing/debugging activities. Provide technical documentation & on-going support. Service and Support: 15% - Respond to client problems in a timely manner. Provide consulting services, training, & documentation as required. Participate in the system support on-call schedule as required.At the 4P4 level, candidate is expected to assume project management & technical leadership roles for multiple small projects, & is expected to design & implement strategic systems solutions to solve business problems.

QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a strong professional commitment to the successful development of highly complex administrative systems combined with an understanding of how to achieve that success. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience are required. At least 5 years of application development experience, including 3 years experience in client / server environment using relational database & front-end GUI tools. Experience and understanding of programming & analysis techniques, systems design methodologies, development & implementation strategies for highly complex business information systems.Strong conceptual, logical & problem solving abilities. Experience building complex applications using Oracle Forms, PowerBuilder, SQL, Unix, & C. Thorough understanding of relational database technology, including complex stored procedures & utilities, using Oracle or Sybase. Experience in package implementation, especially Oracle Financials, as well as Java technology & PL/SQL, is a major plus. Ability to set priorities & move project forward. Ability to work well independently & with project teams, with a wide range of clients & staff at all levels. Excellent written & verbal communications skills. Knowledge & understanding of hardware/language/software configurations available in the market.Strong leadership skills with ability to organize, plan, & supervise.the work of others.
