Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Lab Technician to support an upcoming RFID asset tagging project at our Durham, NC office. The initial engagement will focus on tagging and documenting approximately 65 lab servers, with an expected project duration of about one week.

Successful candidates may be considered for future lab maintenance, inventory, and hardware support activities in Durham and other locations on an as-needed basis.

Initial Project Scope - RFID Asset Tagging, Server Asset Management

  • Affix RFID tags to approximately 65 lab servers.
  • Verify server information and accurately associate RFID tags with the appropriate equipment.
  • Enter RFID tag information and related asset data into the company’s internal database.
  • Ensure all records are complete, accurate, and properly documented.
  • Report any discrepancies or missing asset information.

Documentation & Data Entry

  • Maintain accurate records throughout the tagging process.
  • Follow established asset management procedures and documentation standards.
  • Provide status updates and completion reporting as required.

Future Opportunities (As Needed)

Following the completion of the RFID project, additional lab support assignments may be available, including:

  • Server installations and rack-and-stack activities
  • Hardware audits and inventory validation
  • Equipment relocation and deployment
  • General lab maintenance and organization
  • Asset tracking and documentation projects
  • Support activities at Durham and other company locations

Requirements

Do you have experience in Spreadsheets?, * Experience working with servers, data center equipment, or laboratory IT environments.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Experience with inventory management, asset tracking, or equipment documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and follow detailed instructions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Equipment Requirements

  • Technician must provide their own laptop, tablet, or similar device for entering and recording asset information.
  • Comfortable working with web-based databases and spreadsheets.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous RFID tagging or asset management experience.
  • Experience performing server audits or hardware inventory projects.
  • Familiarity with rack-mounted servers and data center environments.
  • Experience supporting lab or infrastructure operations.
