Job description

We are seeking an experienced Telecommunications Field Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair residential voice and broadband services delivered over copper telecommunications networks. The successful candidate will perform installation, repair, testing, and maintenance activities on outside plant and customer-premises copper infrastructure while delivering exceptional customer service., * Install, activate, and repair residential internet and telephone services over copper networks.

  • Troubleshoot service outages and performance issues affecting customer broadband and voice services.
  • Perform copper cable splicing, pair identification, termination, bonding, and grounding.
  • Install and maintain service drops, network interface devices (NIDs), and inside wiring.
  • Test and repair twisted-pair copper circuits using industry-standard test equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve DSL, VDSL, and other copper-based broadband service issues.
  • Locate and repair faults in aerial, underground, and buried copper cable facilities.
  • Read and interpret cable records, facility maps, schematics, and work orders.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot customer-premises equipment, including modems and gateways.
  • Complete service orders, repair tickets, and network documentation accurately.
  • Provide professional customer support and explain services and equipment operation.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and industry standards.

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver’s License license?, Do you have experience in Voltage testers?, * 2+ years of telecommunications installation and repair experience.

  • Hands-on experience with copper telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Experience installing and troubleshooting DSL, VDSL, and POTS services.
  • Knowledge of twisted-pair cable construction, pair assignment, and cable testing.
  • Experience using multimeters, TDRs, cable analyzers, and other telecom test equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret network diagrams and cable records.
  • Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working for telecom carriers or telecommunications service providers.
  • Experience with:
  • Copper cable splicing and restoration
  • Residential installation and repair (I&R)
  • Outside Plant (OSP) maintenance
  • Aerial and underground copper facilities
  • Broadband troubleshooting over copper infrastructure
  • OSHA 10 certification or equivalent safety training.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work on aerial facilities.
  • Ability to enter manholes, vaults, and confined spaces where permitted.
  • Lift and carry equipment up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, stand, and walk for extended periods.
