Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated Data Center Optical Engineer Lead to support optical transport and infrastructure operations within customer data centers and co-location environments. This individual will serve as the primary interface between customers, vendors, and technicians, ensuring high-quality execution of optical fiber installations, migrations, remediation efforts, break/fix activities, and remote hands services., * Conduct daily audits of work performed at customer data centers and provide feedback to third-party technicians.

  • Serve as the primary interface between Ericsson vendors and customers.
  • Assist with fiber installation, decommissioning, migration, remediation, and break/fix activities.
  • Perform and supervise optical testing, troubleshooting, and validation activities.
  • Execute work according to MoPs, engineering documents, and network design specifications.
  • Read and interpret cut sheets and physical network design documentation.
  • Provide customer updates, reports, and status communications through ticketing systems and direct interactions.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, operational best practices, and safety requirements.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Ticketing system technical support?, * 3+ years of experience in data center operations or similar technical environments.

  • Previous team lead or supervisory experience.
  • Hands-on experience with connectorized fiber optic cable installations, including single-mode and multi-mode fiber.
  • Experience with optical testing and troubleshooting using OTDRs, optical power meters, VFLs, stabilized light sources, and test sets.
  • Ability to interpret network diagrams, engineering documents, cut sheets, and Methods of Procedure (MoPs).
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills and professional written/verbal English.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and customer ticketing systems.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and administrative skills.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in varying environmental conditions., * data center operations or similar technical environments.: 3 years (Required)
  • o OTDRs, optical power meters, VFLs: 1 year (Required)
