Job description
Hive+Co has a contract opportunity with our Columbus, Ohio client for an Interface Engineer to support the design, development, and implementation of healthcare system integrations. This role will focus on building and maintaining interfaces between EMR platforms and third-party vendor applications using FHIR APIs, HL7, and Cloverleaf technologies.
The ideal candidate will have strong healthcare integration experience, deep knowledge of interoperability standards, and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors.
Key Responsibilities of the Interface Engineer
- Design, develop, test, and support healthcare interfaces and integrations utilizing Cloverleaf and FHIR API technologies.
- Build integrations between EMR systems and vendor applications using industry-standard interoperability frameworks.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, developers, business analysts, and vendor partners to gather and refine requirements.
- Develop, troubleshoot, and optimize API integrations and interface workflows.
- Participate in solution design discussions and provide technical recommendations for integration architecture.
- Perform interface testing, validation, and deployment activities.
- Monitor, debug, and resolve interface issues across clinical and corporate systems.
- Demonstrate completed solutions to stakeholders and obtain approvals throughout the development lifecycle.
- Follow established software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes and Agile delivery practices.
- Maintain technical documentation and support ongoing operational needs.
Requirements
Do you have experience in XML?, * Experience developing and supporting healthcare integrations using Cloverleaf Interface Engine.
- Strong experience with FHIR APIs and SMART on FHIR integration methodologies.
- Experience working with HL7, XML, and healthcare interoperability standards.
- Knowledge of API authentication and security protocols, including OAuth.
- Experience with API development, integration, troubleshooting, and debugging.
- Understanding of networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP.
- Experience with healthcare application integration and interoperability solutions.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and software development lifecycle best practices.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating across multiple teams.
Preferred Qualifications of the Interface Engineer
- Epic certification related to FHIR API integration standards.
- Experience working with Epic interoperability solutions.
- Knowledge of additional integration standards and protocols including:
- ANSI X12
- LU2
- XML-based integrations
- Experience using ServiceNow for incident, change, or project management processes.
- Prior healthcare provider or health system experience.
